"Oh, I expect it will. That's another reason I kind of wanted Xavier's to have a presence here, because the X-Men can serve as a self-police force for the mutant community if it's needed." Stephanie would, of course, prefer that that not be the case, but civic authorities couldn't always be trusted.

"I would, of course, and in all likelihood, they would in the long run yield considerable profits, but this isn't really about money. It's about doing what I can to ensure our people have a good future." Stephanie took a breath. It would also, of course, raise her own profile and position her, potentially, to be that mutant politican.

She believed in many of the same ideas as the people at the Mansion, though for reasons of enlightened self-interest rather than real altruism. It was only part of her plans, actually. A centrepiece.

"Good. This place can use all the help it can get." She looked at her friend for a moment. "And so could I."
