Settling In (Open to X-ers)

Brianna sat on the south lawn in yoga pants and a tank top in the lotus position, counting her breaths as she cycled through several breathing exercises at the end of her meditations. She'd been back at Xavier's for a couple of days now and she was settling in all right. Mom and Dad seemed to be having a good time back home, though she knew her father would want to get out on the road again as soon as possible.

She felt herself return to alertness and opened her eyes as if seeing the world anew for the first time. Her meditations always renewed her spirt and her mind and she was ready to take on the new day.

Standing in one smooth motion, Brianna LeBeau began tehe first of several katas, taking up an open fighting stance and working through encountering her foe, engaging and finally, dispatching that foe before beginning the next kata.

"Even I'm not quite sure what he meant there. But I don't think 'basher' is a bad term. Though if he was trying to be nice, he would have called you 'cutter.'" Pete shrugged a little helplessly. Athos wasn't the most personable of the turtles. He was definitely the crankiest and hardest to understand.

"All the turtles take over my body when they want to come out. I can observe what they're doing, but I can't do anything to change their actions." He glanced toward both girls to see if they were starting to scoot away from him.

Brianna didn't scoot away. In fact, she leaned in a little closer and Pete's story was /interesting/. She couldn't imagine what it was like to have someone in her head that came out whenever they wanted to.

Wait. Did he say turtles? As in plural?

"Um...how many turtles are there, curiously?" she asked.

"Okay, that would suck..." Bobbi knows a little about what it's like to watch and be unable to do anything. It happened once with Brooke. She gave him space sitting back on the floor, but it was clear she was interested.

Pete was slightly relieved Bobbi gave him some room. Also, that neither of them went running from the room screaming about a freak. Though when Brianna leaned in, he leaned away a bit.

"It does suck," he agreed with Bobbi," but I can't control it. I have to take it for what it is. And there's four of them. That I know about. I don't know if anymore slip out while I sleep."

"Four turtles, one named Athos that speaks oddly. How long has this been happening to you?" she asked, noting his leaning away. She realized she'd invaded his space and moved back a bit.

Bobbi stayed quiet. Curiosity kept this kitty out of trouble for the time being right?

"They all talk funny but in different ways," Pete noted as he sat back up to normal instead of leaning. He started to nervously thumb at the corner of the notebook on his lap.

"It's been like this since..." - he turned into a monstrous freak of nature - "... I manifested. Before I came to this school."

Brianna noted that Pete seemed hesitant to talk about the others. Perhaps she would have to catch them about whenever she could. In the meantime, she nodded to him.

"Everyone has it tough, Pete. But you seem like a decent chap. Do you all have a schedule worked out on who gets out when or is it really just luck of the draw for the day?" she asked.
