"I bet they don't stay away. You probably have to fend them off with a stick." Tommy laughs, his first real laugh in several weeks. He was starting to see how easy it was to talk to her and that was nice. She was the second girl this week that he was more interested in talking to than sleeping with, which was new for him.

When she said that she was just a friend to Joe, he shook his head in disagreement.

"I don't know what you two have talked about but that wasn't the vibe I got whenever he talked about you. We were in Arkansas a couple of years ago and Joe was going through his things. He pulls out this old toy warplane. Must have been from like, World War Two or something. Anyway, I thought it was a little weird that he was carrying it around and he said that someone special gave it to him when he was a kid." Tommy told her.

"I asked him why he still had it now and he said that thinking of 'her' was the only thing that made his days tolerable anymore. New Years' Eve that year, he was looking at a magazine article and I remembered that girl. I asked him why we were after crooks if he could be with her?

He showed me the article he was reading and there was a picture of that girl with her boyfriend, some European guy. He said that he would always care about her, but he didn't fit into her life anymore, not the way he wanted." Tommy finished.

"I'll give you three guesses who the article was about and the first two don't count."
