Green Goblin sees the mace coming down toward his head and tries to toss a flash-bang pumpkin bomb at Warbird in a desperation move as the mace comes down. The mace connects with the side of the villain's head, stripping away the mask...and revealing metal and wire beneath.

The flash-bang is mostly for disorientation, enough to create some distance between the Goblin and the Kree-Olympian hybrid.

"You DARE strike me! You will pay for this insult, harlot!"
