Stephanie nodded. She couldn't help but wish, herself, that Marcelo would wake up and take some of the dreadful awkwardness out of the room.

Compared to the raw relief of his being alive and able to recover, it was miniscule, but there was a part of her that had to process that reality. "I'm glad I could get there in time."

"I could go, if you wanted to spend some time with him."
