Brianna smiled even though her mind was working a mile a minute. She needed to enjoy this time with Kayla but she also needed to arrange payment to her source. The light in Kayla's eyes made her happy but, inside, Brianna was still furious that someone had tried to take it from her. Kayla nearly died from basically having her soul eaten by a monster.

That monster had to pay.

Brianna would see to that.

"Sweet-talker. Dinner now. I plan to gorge myself on dessert, too. What's good here?" Brianna asked, picking up a menu with one hand even as he laced the fingers of her other hand with Kayla's.
