Quinn nodded.

"You're right. I did lie to you for a long time. Whether it was lying by omission or just outright dishonesty, that's what it was. I didn't tell you the truth about who I was to protect you but I was protecting myself first and foremost." he said.

"When we met, I'd been through a lot of really bad things. My mother went missing in action during a mission for SHIELD and my dad didn't take it well. And then...I was involved in the death of a diplomat that I haven't solved. In fact, if SHIELD found me right now, I'd be in another prison cell until I can get it figured out."

Quinn shifted nervously.

"I wanted to be someone that didn't have those problems because being me, in a word, sucked. I was going to go and turn myself in and then I met this beautiful, smart woman playing darts in a bar in London. I had to get to know her.

She said she was leaving for Italy the following morning and I...I just wanted to know more about her. So I went."
