"Your secrets are work related," Roxie said. "I understand that." It wasn't like Joe had a wife and kids squirreled away somewhere. She trusted him.
"You were in jail?" Roxie stopped and reached out, gently running her fingertips over his cheek. "Looks like you have about as much to fill me in on as I do you," she said, a wry smile playing across her lips. There was no unnecessary fawning. Roxie knew that Joe could handle himself. Worry did flicker in her navy blue eyes, though.
She nodded, and lowered herself into the seat. "My gift?" Roxie raised an eyebrow. "Not Madripoori handcuffs?" she joked.
