Dolemeck's own self esteem could be questionable at times. Kids back home did not want to be his friend, even before he was hit by the car. The only time anyone wanted to be his friend, was when they wanted an autograph or something from his father's band. It could have truly effected him in the worst ways, but his brother reminded him that he was a wonderful person, and would one day make real friends. To never give up, even when times got hard.

He wanted to give that same knowledge to Ilya. To have him see he was worthy of not just love, but friendship, education, the world if he wanted it.
