"She's openin' her birthday gift. It's a little early, but it'll take her long enough if my guess is good. And it is." Remy said, gesturing for the door and holding it for Kayla as they left the kitchen.

He lead Kayla out of the front door to one of the walking paths that would take them into the rose garden.

"Brianna's told me a lot about you, Kayla. Said you've had a rough time of it but you're still de best person she knows. I respect dat. Ain't too many of us c'n say the same." Remy said.

He looked around at the garden, then back to Kayla.

"I already like you more than the boy she brought home. Did she tell you about him?"
