M.I.T....

Top scientists at MIT had been researching new technologies, including the development of software which could handle pan-dimensional level calculations.  The projected applications had been hailed as revolutionary by the likes of Tony Stark and Reed Richards...

Which made it the perfect target for the continuing crimes of the Lethal Legion.   Sabertooth, the Owl, the Radioactive Man, and Mentallo had been sent to retrieve it.

The attack quickly made the news.

Fortunately, the local super-heroes, the New Mutants, were not far away in New Jersey...

With the New Mutants being a small team, it was easier for them to mobilize that others. A quick stop in New York to pick up their fourth and the flying New Mutants Mobile (as Aiden liked to call it since Gnome Mobile had been shot down) set down in Killian Court.

The young Mojoworlder adjusted his uniform a little.

"Ready to punch people invading Val's campus," he informed the others as he waited for the exit to open. He was apparently not allowed to jump from the jet while it was in motion.

Angel adjusted the straps on the scabbards across her back for her tonfa swords. They let her put her sword fighting skills into practice without having to actually bloody anyone. A third, smaller one rested between them, but pointed down, so that it could be used by her tail if need be.

"Don't recognize any of these fellahs," she said. "But Ah'm not so good at keepin' up with super-villains."

"Honestly, they look like cheap knockoffs of brandname villains. I'm willing to bet one of them is named Magnitto or something." Stephanie hadn't been one of the New Mutants for very long at all, and this was her first call. A chance to show them what I can do. It'd been awhile since she'd used her powers properly, though she knew she had to be careful with them.

They really did lend themselves rather spectacularly to unpleasant bloodiness. And superheroes weren't supposed to do that.

"So what's the plan?"

Sara swore softly. "The hairy guy is Sabretooth. He's bad news." She knew the name would tell Angel and Aiden all they needed to know, but she continued for Stephanie's benefit. "He's like Wolverine with no scruples. Fast, strong, healing factor, but no adamantium. Don't let him get his claws on you."

Her eyes scanned the scene. "I'm not one hundred percent on the rest of them. The little guy in the hand me down SHIELD gear might be Mentallo. If it is, he's a telepath. Mom fought him once, he was no match for her, but he's still a threat. The big guy in the cloak is leaking rads all over the place. Nothing harmful yet, but he's kinda glowing through the seams to me, which says he's got a lot more where that came from. I don't recognize the bird guy at all."

She thought for a moment. "Stephanie, you take Sabretooth. Watch out for his claws. Angel, you take the bird man, Aiden takes maybe-Mentallo, and I'll take the radioactive guy. Don't underestimate them but remember, they know even less about us than we do them."
