M.I.T....

Top scientists at MIT had been researching new technologies, including the development of software which could handle pan-dimensional level calculations. The projected applications had been hailed as revolutionary by the likes of Tony Stark and Reed Richards...

Which made it the perfect target for the continuing crimes of the Lethal Legion. Sabertooth, the Owl, the Radioactive Man, and Mentallo had been sent to retrieve it.

The attack quickly made the news.

Fortunately, the local super-heroes, the New Mutants, were not far away in New Jersey...

Really? This was what he had to throw at her? Okay, bad metaphor aside...

BAMF!

Angel disappeared in a cloud of brimstone, appears above and behind him. She flared her feet out, aiming dual kicks at his kidneys. Might not hurt, given the armor, but it's give her some of his measure even if it didn't...

Owl grunted at the impact. Mostly because it wasn't expected. Since his throwing stars hadn't worked, he decided to grab one of those kicking feet with the razor-sharp claws on his hands. Owl reached around with one hand and tried to grab one of Angel's ankles.

Angel's eyes widened, but her composure remained even. Rather than cry out or try to avoid the blow, she bamf-ed again, reappearing back on the ground.

"Have to try harder than that," she teased.

"Oh, you're a hoot." Since he didn't have a wannabe hero at his back, the Owl spread his arms to let his wings glide him out of the way. Which was a good idea since he glided to the left and the lamppost went crashing down where he had originally planned to land.

The stump of remaining lamppost sizzled.

"Okay, that was just terrible," Angel said. She charged forward, took a breath, and bamfed.

She appeared to the left of him, struck out, then bamfed again, this time to the right. She continued to 'port quickly, never staying in place for longer than the time it took to swing her swords or throw a kick.

Owl tried his best to defend against the attacks, even if they were coming from all over. Though he started to leave obvious openings. Never in the same place. He wanted to see if this hero would go for the bait or not. He wanted her dancing to his own pattern.

So he'd at least have a shot of staying on his feet if this kept up.

Angel was generally good at reading her opponents fighting styles, but even she had her limits. Combined with the fact that her bamfs were slowing down a bit (her stamina had improved considerably over the years, but she had her limits)... well, she needed to take openings where she could.

When he left himself open, she swung it for a tonfa-strike.

When she went for the opening Owl had left for her, he countered. He struck out at her wooden sword with one hand, trying to sink he claws into the weapon and yank it away.

His other hand shot out to try to rake his razor-sharp claws across her throat.

Rather than fight it, Angel let the sword go, falling backwards to avoid the other strike. As she did, her tail whipped out to grab his leg and pull him off his feet.

Knowing someone has a tail and knowing she could use it were two separate things. Owl was more focused on trying to get Angel with his claws that he missed the fact his opponent had a prehensile tail.

Angel's tail managed to wrap around his ankle and yank Owl off his feet. His razor-sharp claws just missing the collar of her uniform.

Angel gasped as she claws nearly cut her throat, but she used her fall to go into a somersault, bounced off her hands, and bounced back with a kick aimed at his head.

Trying to get oneself off the ground was not the most ideal situation to avoid an incoming fur missile. Especially since he didn't see her coming. Angel connected solidly with his helmet. His head bounced off the ground, knocking him a little out of it.

Angel didn't let him have a moment to recover. She bounced quickly over to his side, bringing her remaining tonfa-swords back out for a strike to the head.

Even though he was wearing an enclosed helmet, he still tried to protect his head when Angel's wooden swords came for him. Though his hands weren't steady or quite on target. His thumbs took the blow and broke.

He screeched in pain.

Angel's voice was somewhat sympathetic. "Now, Ah'll admit, Ah didn't mean to do that. And that looked like it hurt a lot. Ah ain't gonna apologize, but Ah am gonna ask you to stay down so Ah don't gotta hurt you no further."
