After another day of fruitless table rattling, creating cold spots, emitting random spooky noises, and generally disturbing the inhabitants of the Institute, Julia was drifting around the underground floors, seeing things she probably wasn't supposed to, but didn't understand anyways.
She couldn't hear the initial explosions, but she certainly did hear and see the alarms.
Oh shit, did I do that? No, wait, I've been here a while, and didn't set anything off before...
She quickly shot up, trying to avoid anything that seemed important and electronic, and wound up in one of the main hallways on the ground floor. A group of panicked students ran right through her.
Whoa.
Now she could hear the explosions, gunshots, and general chaos outside. She flew through the walls and immediately saw an armored figure aiming at a terrified student trying to take cover behind the fountain in the front oval. She didn't know what to do... she didn't know that she could do anything, but she had to try. In the blink of an eye, she was hovering in front of the armored figure, wrapping ghostly arms around him.
