So True of Aim With His Marshmallow Laser

Jay had less of his senior year in front of him than he thought. He was behind on his senior year job shadowing. Most of his fellow students on the rez had access to all the Keewazi technology businesses and labs to do theirs in. He was in New York City and had fewer options.

He knew he could have gone to the Future Foundation and gotten credit for it. However, him showing up at Pier 4 would have been a signal for Mary to prank him somehow. Rather than deal having to redo somethings due a prankster shapeshifter, Jay got some suggestions from his school for some science-based businesses in NYC that he could get credit for.

Jay currently stood outside a nondescript building housing several businesses that could fit his science job shadowing requirement. He checked the slip of paper once more to make sure he had the right address. If he had not been specifically looking for this building, he doubted he would have even noticed it.

Shrugging to himself, he headed toward the front doors. He had an appointment with one of the businesses inside. He was dressed in a light jacket over a button-down shirt, his cleanest pair of jeans, and his pair of green Chuck Taylor All Stars on his feet. Not very science-y, but comfortable to him.

"These levels are incredible!"

The lights from the control panel and the gamma collection tubes danced across the doctor's face, accentuating the slight green tinge to his hair and skin.

"At this rate, I'll have to order more batteries to store everything he's putting out."

Then Dr. Green frowned.

"These cardiac readings are slightly anomalous..."

Lena wasn't really paying attention to what Dr. Green had to say. She was enjoying herself too much.

In Jay's mind, the car sped faster and faster, his friends' faces taking on expressions of horror and fear.

A rain of rocks fell from the sky, tiny ones pelting Jay, larger ones bouncing around the car. The windshield cracked, obscuring Marcus's face, then one of the tires blew out. The car veered crazily, out of control. Large dents appeared in the hood and fenders. Then, a cluster of jagged rocks bloomed from the road directly in front of the crippled vehicle. It hit, and soared up into the air, flipping, and landing with a sickening crunch.

Small flames licked the crumpled hood from within the engine compartment. A pool of black oil, greenish anti-freeze, and red blood spread out from the wreckage, trickling towards Jay.

Dr. Green looked alarmed.

"Cardiac and respiration are off the charts! Be careful, I don't want to kill him. Not when he's producing so well..."

Lena jumped back, her eyes looking wide and almost human as the pupils dilated.

She looked at Dr. Green.

She looked at the rapidly turning green teenager in the suddenly flimsy looking restraints.

She looked at Dr. Green.

"Toodles!"

Lena muttered a few words under her breath, then vanished in a burst of hellfire and a cloud of brimstone.

Dr. Green backed away, swearing in several different languages. He slammed his hand against an alarm button on the wall.

"Alert Condition Green! I repeat, Green! Get down here, heavy armor, bring all the tranq gear we have!"

He took a few steps further back.

"Now! Everyone!"

Dr. Green rapidly backed his way to the door. Once outside in the hallway, he punched in a code that sealed the room. It wouldn't keep Jay in for long, but it would buy some time.
