So True of Aim With His Marshmallow Laser

Jay had less of his senior year in front of him than he thought. He was behind on his senior year job shadowing. Most of his fellow students on the rez had access to all the Keewazi technology businesses and labs to do theirs in. He was in New York City and had fewer options.

He knew he could have gone to the Future Foundation and gotten credit for it. However, him showing up at Pier 4 would have been a signal for Mary to prank him somehow. Rather than deal having to redo somethings due a prankster shapeshifter, Jay got some suggestions from his school for some science-based businesses in NYC that he could get credit for.

Jay currently stood outside a nondescript building housing several businesses that could fit his science job shadowing requirement. He checked the slip of paper once more to make sure he had the right address. If he had not been specifically looking for this building, he doubted he would have even noticed it.

Shrugging to himself, he headed toward the front doors. He had an appointment with one of the businesses inside. He was dressed in a light jacket over a button-down shirt, his cleanest pair of jeans, and his pair of green Chuck Taylor All Stars on his feet. Not very science-y, but comfortable to him.

There was an acrid smell that mixed with the clouds of sedative gas, and a trickle of fluid from between the leg joints of the man's armor. He fainted into a crumpled heap before the massive green finger had a chance to touch him.

Dr. Green's laboratory was at the bottom of 3 hidden sub-basements, reinforced with titanium steel, an elaborate system of electrical conduits and pipes for drainage, and separated from the "public" sub-basement and basement by thirty feet of packed dirt. Otherwise, Jay's leap might have taken him all the way into the tenant offices above ground. As it was, he found himself in the first of the hidden sub-basements. Dirt and rocks poured down from above, where he'd broken the ceiling.

Surprised and frightened laboratory workers looked up from their petri dishes, microscopes, and computers. Over to one side, a vaguely reptilian looking woman with improbably large lips let out a hissing shriek.

"My walls! My beautiful Italian marble terrazzo flooooooors!"

The scientists scattered, some screaming and running around, others diving under tables and desks. They were all researchers, after all, and not fighters.

Iguanalina shrieked, and hissed, and sobbed, growing in size, and becoming more reptilian. Her nails grew into talons, the polish flaking and peeling off, but bizarrely, her lips stayed the same.

One of the scientists was of a slightly cooler-headed disposition... or perhaps she was just a long-time employee and veteran of Jay's last stay with Dr. Green. She ran over and activated yet another of the ubiquitous dark green glass panels. This one set off a fire alarm, and opened a hidden fire escape.

The woman scrambled up the revealed metal ladder, followed by a handful of the other researchers.

Iguanalina hissed, and frantically slapped at Jay's back and shoulders as they went barreling into a server rack.

A piece of metal fell down next to them. Iguanalina caught a glimpse of her reflection in it, and began to wail.

"Nooooooo! NOOOOOOOO! Greeeeeeeen! Doc-tor GREEEEEEEN!"

She curled up into a ball and rocked back and forth.
