Tell me, doctor, where are we going this time? [Into Post, First Franklin]

The 11th century pillbox bat looked... like it had been made no longer than a few months ago. It helped that it really was made about a month or so ago in 11th century Constaninople... or Byzantium. But it looked oh so darling on Valeria's head. It really didn't match with her tri-colored jeans or the golden oversize blouse that matched the jeans, but somehow it was... cute.

She sipped her beer, looking at the news. A plate of hot wings were shared between her and her brother. They just gotten back a day earlier, crashing at the two room apartment they were renting for the next six months. Time lag was nearly as bad as jet lag. However one could recover pretty well from it. "So. I recall you telling me that Constantinople was very cosmopolitan. Very." She stole a wing from the plate. "Very Cosmopolitan."

"It was! It's just that the 11th century and the 21st centuries have different standards of cosmopolitan. Back then, the height of sophistication was knowing what the hell a fork even was." Honestly, the courtly ladies of Byzantium were stunned when the Saxon barbarians, no doubt aspiring to a command in the Varangian Guard, were quite conversant in the use of those new-fangled forks. It'd actually been a not-inconsiderable social "in" for them.

"Next time you can choose where we go." Franklin sipped his Coke thoughtfully and took a wing. "I'm through with Greek civilization for awhile. Too many olives. And I missed soda." Not to mention showers, the Internet, Katie, modern beds, certain combinations of the aforementioned variables ... as much fun as it was going about the past, Franklin preferred to live in the present.
