The portal from Limbo opened easily and without triggering the wards that warned those mystically sensitive of what was happening in the city. S'ym's erstwhile ally had seen to that. Not that S'ym trusted him further than he could throw him, but he had been truthful enough in what he could provide.

Other demons, made temporarily invisible, followed him out of the portal.

"You all know S'ym's plan," he said. "Raise hell out there. Make the humans panic. The more chaos we sow, the weaker our ally makes the barrier between dimensions. And when that happens, he says this world will belong to S'ym! And what's good for S'ym is good for all of you!"

The demons began to cheer.

S'ym puffed on his cigar. "But it's gonna take all of you doin' what we do best. Killin' folks, corruptin' this world, just like we done before. Only there ain't no X-Men here to stop us this time! No little Darkchylde to ruin things! This time... this world... will... be... OURS!"

The demons flew off, ready to raise hell.

In the shopping district, department store mannequins were coming to life, terrorizing shoppers everywhere.

Marion had been on her way through here. There is a nice store a bit off the beaten trail that has more Southern looking clothes that don't look trashy. She had just wanted some new boots since the ones she has had for years are starting to come apart.

She takes one look at the chaos and sighs.

"At least they ain't carrying silver." She goes to step in and put a stop to this.

Apparently, you couldn't just go shopping in the city for a day anymore. Frankie had been enjoying the trip down from the institute into the city for the day when she'd noticed...evil mannequins.

Well, it was New York, after all. Still, couldn't have people being terrorized by evil mannequins.

Frankie leaped around people, getting civilians out of the way as she made her way towards the mannequins.

The mannequins marched like soldiers, occasionally picking up something to use as a weapon against people, and otherwise causing chaos up and down the street.

Marion pulls her favorite knife out of a sheath that is along her back. Carrying weapons only tends to be a big no one. She doesn't wait for the mannequins to come to her. She goes after one intending to cut it's arm away so it will be less able to attack.

Frankie jumped over people, attempting to knock some of the mannequins over.

The girls blows worked well, disarming or knocking down the mannequins, but plenty more rose up to take their place.

Frankie continued to kick and punch at mannequins.

"There's got to be an explanation for this." She starts to fight more of them. Looking for something that tells her about what is making these animated.

At this point, at least, no explanation would be forthcoming. Other than the fact that the mannequins were starting to look increasingly demonic, cackling like hyenas as they fought.

"If you can find an explanation, that would be awesome!" Frankie said, kicking over another mannequin.

"No idea! But look! Their faces!" Marion lays one flat with her knife cutting deeply. "Demonic influence. I think there might be a charm or spell animating them. We wanna stop with we gotta break it. No time now though. Keeping them away from people seems to be all we can do!"

The mannequins kept up the fight, but they were definitely starting to fall under the girls' attacks.

"Works for me!" Frankie said, ripping an arm of a mannequin and using it to take down another one.

Marion smirks at Frankie's enthusiastic sounds. She doesn't blame the other girl. Fighting is actually pretty fun. That is at least what she has started to think ever since she became a werewolf.

"Good!"

The numbers were wearing thin now, but the few that remained were still going strong.
