Who Will Defend Us?
Manhattan
Central Park
April
1:26 pm
The portal from Limbo opened easily and without triggering the wards that warned those mystically sensitive of what was happening in the city. S'ym's erstwhile ally had seen to that. Not that S'ym trusted him further than he could throw him, but he had been truthful enough in what he could provide.
Other demons, made temporarily invisible, followed him out of the portal.
"You all know S'ym's plan," he said. "Raise hell out there. Make the humans panic. The more chaos we sow, the weaker our ally makes the barrier between dimensions. And when that happens, he says this world will belong to S'ym! And what's good for S'ym is good for all of you!"
The demons began to cheer.
S'ym puffed on his cigar. "But it's gonna take all of you doin' what we do best. Killin' folks, corruptin' this world, just like we done before. Only there ain't no X-Men here to stop us this time! No little Darkchylde to ruin things! This time... this world... will... be... OURS!"
The demons flew off, ready to raise hell.

She takes one look at the chaos and sighs.
"At least they ain't carrying silver." She goes to step in and put a stop to this.
Re: Shopping District
Well, it was New York, after all. Still, couldn't have people being terrorized by evil mannequins.
Frankie leaped around people, getting civilians out of the way as she made her way towards the mannequins.

Broadway
Re: Broadway
It was chaotic. Water being sprayed everywhere, lamposts dropping their lightbulbs like bright little glass bombs, posts attached to the street signs bending and snapping as the signs tried to skewer innocent passers-by.
Oh, hey. Must be Wednesday.

No matter, though. Pre-Sorceress Supreme, Sofia had done just fine as a warrior witch.
For the most part, at least.
Taking a deep breath, Sofia concentrated and channeled her willpower into a strobing orb of magical energy. Citrus orange and sickly green light pulsated in Sofia's hand before she loosed the magical bolt on the mobile street signs. Immediate danger first, blow drying spells later.

Which really didn't apply to him. He locked his office and disappeared into another room to ostensibly not work next to huge windows. He was actually putting on one of his experimental new Vesper suits. This was one way to test out his company's new technologies.
Making sure he had his newest voice modulator on under the suit and geared up. He used a back entrance to get to the roof and his ever portable wingpack right out of his briefcase to get above the streets.
Vesper dove at a rampaging taxi and then folded in his wings to flip himself so he'd land feet first on the taxi's hood. He grit his teeth and hoped these boots had better impact resistance than his pair at home.

He wondered how sturdy those windshield wipers were after his hands closed around them.

Greenwich Village
This being the Village, hardly anyone noticed.
Re: Greenwich Village
When the street lamps and things started coming to life, Tommy sighed deeply. He'd just gotten here. Why was this happening?
And why was no one reacting to it?
Re: Greenwich Village
"Oh this can't be good."
And no one was really reacting. Except that one guy watching it all with resigned irritation.
"I take it today is not dancing streetlight day here, huh?"
Time to read the trident.

S'ym was there, waiting for the heroes, with a handful of demon soldiers. "Well, well, well, look who decided to show up on S'ym's doorstep. S'ym would feel disappointed... if he didn't have company already. You heroes are too late. The spell's finished."

He looked upon the heroes and the city, and laughed.
