Who Will Defend Us?

The portal from Limbo opened easily and without triggering the wards that warned those mystically sensitive of what was happening in the city.  S'ym's erstwhile ally had seen to that.  Not that S'ym trusted him further than he could throw him, but he had been truthful enough in what he could provide. 

Other demons, made temporarily invisible, followed him out of the portal.

"You all know S'ym's plan," he said.  "Raise hell out there.  Make the humans panic.  The more chaos we sow, the weaker our ally makes the barrier between dimensions.  And when that happens, he says this world will belong to S'ym!  And what's good for S'ym is good for all of you!"

The demons began to cheer.

S'ym puffed on his cigar.  "But it's gonna take all of you doin' what we do best.  Killin' folks, corruptin' this world, just like we done before.  Only there ain't no X-Men here to stop us this time!  No little Darkchylde to ruin things!  This time... this world... will... be... OURS!"

The demons flew off, ready to raise hell.

Kassi sees this bolt. She doesn't like it and thus attempts to deflect it from Sophia using her trident. It worked on the demented light poles.

The fireball struck the ground in front of the Rider's bike, causing it to veer wildly. The Rider got it under control quickly enough but it cost him a chance to fire another shot at S'ym.

"Face me in single-combat, demon! Prepare for judgment." he demanded.

Sofia smiles down at Kassi. It's a quick, short smile before she focuses her attention back on her great-uncle.

"Everytime you take a chance, you get knocked down again. Give it up early and go back to burning in your hell-dimension, 'Mammu."

Once in the air, Vesper realized that may not have been the wisest of actions. Since there were winged demons. Winged demons with a gleeful look of destruction coming at him.

He cursed with a heavy French accent and tried to maneuver out of the way. Or at least get some of them to crash into each other.

Dawn was almost a passenger in her own body as reflexes and muscle memory of things she'd never actually done took over, separating demon head from body with easy swings of her sword. Strokes were blocked, punches were thrown, guards erected...

All things she never knew she could do, or even should be able to.

The distraction cost her, a demon striking her from behind and knocking her to her knees.

"You think S'ym's afraid of you?" the Limbo-demon growled. "Belasco, the Darkchylde, N'astirh, the Magus, S'ym's outlasted all others!"

He stepped forward, cracking his knuckles. "Bring it, little rider."

Dormammu growled in frustration. "I'll burn this whole world to the ground if I wish! And none of you heroes will stop me!"

He struck out again, with the Flames of the Fallentine.

Sofia fired back at Dormammu, dispelling her magical dagger for the Rains of Raggador.

Dawn's sword separated a demon's head from its body, and gave her a moment's breathing space.

There had to be something more they could do...

There. Just beyond the big purple guy, were still several flaming braziers, lines of glowing light between them. Maybe...

She pointed with her sword. "I think we should smash those!"

The wolf pauses in her fighting. She can sort of understand what Dawn said. But for the wolf the scent of blood is mildly distracting.

She isn't sure what she should be doing. Attacking or assisting in what the armored woman said. The wolf decides to make sure that the woman can do as she said so she jumps after the demons who are getting between the braziers and Dawn.

A big angry werewolf would scare most beings, not demons though so Marion has a fight on her 'paws'.

A couple demon-on-demon collisions and a few more close calls for himself, Vesper was busy. Though with his hearing as powered up as it was, he heard the confused blonde suggest smashing things. A glance down let him see what she was pointing at.

Vesper banked to the left to avoid a swooping demon and then streaked toward one of the flaming braziers. He hoped it wouldn't need super strength to break. Either way, this was going to hurt...

Liza flicked a little demon ichor off of her claws. The Basilisk was enjoying this a little too much. Or maybe it was her own demon heritage.

She looked over at the braziers that Dawn was pointing at. Smash those? Sure thing. It seemed less messy than fighting the demons, anyways. And maybe safer.

She threw her line out and lassoed the top of one of the braziers, then pulled back with all her strength.

Dawn sliced through one of her own, the sword she carried and the strange power she wielded, slicing through the brazier easily.

As the braziers were destroyed, the mystic symbol they had been forming began to glow and vanish...

And with that vanishing, Dormammu himself began to fade and vanish, his connection to the Earth realm disappearing...

"Nooo! Nooo! Curse you...!"

"S'ym thinks this is our queue to exit...," S'ym muttered, dodging one of the Ghost Rider's blows.

"Demons! Back to Limbo!"
