Mrs. Mary MacNeilly's report to the New York State Education Department was far from glowing. Her report caused a lot more concern and shock than normal process usually allowed. They did their research on previous inspections just to see how long this mutant school problem had been going on. Despite their research showing there had never been an issue as large as what was put before them, they had to take action on what Mrs. MacNeilly had reported.

The NYSED informed the superintendent in the district Xavier's was located in of the issue. They also got in touch with Westchester County's office about Xavier's certificate of occupancy due to the structural damage Mrs. MacNeilly had witnessed happening to the school building. With the report of mutants on the grounds the state and county governments got their information squared away before sending representatives to the school with protection from law enforcement. Child Protective Services got into the loop after being informed of a young girl living at the school surrounded by mutants who quite possibly could not control their powers.

As the media got wind of what was coming to a quiet yet secretive school in upstate New York, TV stations sent crews out. Some of the government representatives were glad to talk vaguely about what was happening at the school live. With the cameras aimed to put the people going into the school on film, a TV reporter stepped into the frame.

"This is Samantha Boulevard here not far from the town of Salem Center in Westchester County. Government officials from the New York State Education Department are here delivering a notice of probation for the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. The school came under scrutiny recently during an inspection by a certified educational inspector. My sources have told me that this school poses as a private institution for education but has been revealed to be habitat for mutants."

Hana's first thought at seeing the news report was that she needed to get into the village and get the kids from school. There weren't too many protesters outside Xavier's yet, but it was a matter of time before more turned up. Probably nastier ones.

She went in search of Logan. Normally, he'd pick the kids up in the afternoon, since Hana dropped them off in the morning. Today, though, she wanted to be there.

Logan was deep into reviewing school security when Hana showed up. He was thinking about the kids outside the wall as well and wondering if reporters or government types had shown up at the elementary school to harass the kids.

He looked up when Hana entered the control room. "Nobody's panickin', are they?"

"Not that I've seen. Some of us are pretty ticked off." No big surprise there.

She stopped beside him and frowned down at the computer screens a second before she looked back at Logan. "I'm thinking about picking Emily and the boys up early today. I'm worried about how much flack we'll be getting later."

"I'm thinkin' they don't need to be here for this," he growled. CPS coming in decide whether or not his little girl was in danger was maddening enough. He'd already raised one and she'd made it through childhood alive.

"Yeah, probably not." Hana chewed her bottom lip and, not for the first time, wished her parents lived closer. Of course, if her mom saw this on TV, they might turn up real soon.

"Where should we take them?"

"Could take 'em into the city to my place, but that's not a solution." He chewed on it while he watched the monitors. "Amiko, mebbe. She'd take 'em in a heartbeat. They'd be safe." Safe but so far away was left unspoken. They'd still be with family.

"I'll call her an' see what we can fix up. Think you can pick 'em up an' drive to the city. Stark might be persuaded to let us borrow a jet to get 'em there."

Man, she didn't like the idea of her kids being so far away, but Logan was right... they'd be with family and safe from the craziness that was about to explode all over Xavier's. She nodded slowly. "I'll get them there."

She gave him a wry smile. "I'll let Misha do the persuading."

"I'll call him." If Logan was going to trust his little girl's welfare to anybody else, he'd do his own asking. Then he'd call Amiko and tell her what was going on if she wasn't already burning up the phone line trying to get through to him.

"He likes spoilin' the boys," he added.

"Yeah, he does." It was kind of funny sometimes. He seemed especially fond of buying them things he knew Misha would be annoyed by. Hana figured that must be some kind of rich, bored, grandfather thing.

She headed for the door to go get her keys. "I just wish he'd remember sometimes that the stuff he buys has to fit in their rooms..."
