Vincent ducks under the grab and dives between Jay's legs, rolling away from him until he can scramble to his feet. His broken arm, if it had been consulted, would have strongly objected to that course of action, and makes its opinions known. Vincent, befitting of his keen analytical mind, takes note of them in detail.

Once he can focus his thoughts, he calls on his armor and magical equipment, leaving him more ready to deal with Jay. Of course, clothes shifting around his injured arm bring a whole new world of torment that he has to weather. He works through the pain, letting it turn to rage and frustration that fuels his next spell. He lifts Jay off the ground and holds him there. Out of arms-reach and with no leverage.
