Retirement Just Isn't For Everyone

Vincent was restless. School was now a part-time affair, and he was working from home for his obligations to Stark most of the time. There had been no crime-fighting to speak of, and only some token magical research to keep his skills sharp. He hadn't started a pet project in ages.

...so maybe he could start one.

He let his mind wander back to the rescue he'd made of that armored girl, Mira, in the river. There had been serial numbers on a couple of the components of her equipment. Serial numbers mean registration, and contact information. It doesn't take him more than a couple minutes to have a cell number.

"Hello, Mira?"

"What would you like to hear? Because I can play almost anything."

"Some Rossini, maybe? Or Halestorm."

"I think I can do that." She picked up her fork stabbing one of the pasta. "If not feel free to laugh okay?"

"I promise. Have you ever actually seen pictures of the band? Lzzy is much more adorable than I would have expected for her song stylings." He chuckles a bit.

"Good food."

"I haven't. But it really doesn't surprise me." She grinned.

"It's one of the reasons I like it," She nibbled at hers. "Their cocktails are good too. Though I always feel guilty ordering one of them because really they're works of art."

"Oh I know what you mean. Like, those things on Cake Boss? I wouldn't know where to cut into them first."

"Oh remind me to show you a cake shop in town. They're actually better than on Cake Boss." She loves walking by the window to see the gorgeous henna like designs. "But I may be biased." She grinned.

"We can set that up for next time." He nods, as he works on his chicken a bit more, carefully dabbing on more sauce now and then. "Biases are nothing to apologize for. You tell people about things you like, and they end up liking them too. That's how it works."

"Sounds good." She nodded, "Though really I picked this place, next time it's only fair you pick the place." Hey it was a good way to know more about a guy, by the place they took you for the first date.

She took a bite of her chicken grinning like the cat that ate the canary, they always spiced the blackened chicken just right.

"I'll keep that in mind... pending determining when we're both free next." He smiles.

"The chicken parm isn't bad, but it's one of those recipes that's hard to mess up, in any case." He nods. "You seem to be enjoying yours."

She nodded before swallowing. "Want to try it? I will warn you there's a bit of a kick." Okay that kick, sends most people diving for a gallon of milk, which is why it's in a simple white sauce, to cut it some.

Mira puched her plate towards him a little in case he wanted to try it as she sipped calmly at her soda.

Vincent cuts himself a piece, then raises his fork to her before biting into it.

Oh... that is nice. Thankfully, demigod constitution keeps him from going for the milk. "Very nice."

If she's a little disappointed he's not going for her drink she hides it.

"It's not as good as the place I'd go to on the French Quarter in New Orleans, but as close as I've found anywhere in North America."

"If the difference is that stark, I'll gladly transport us there next time." Vincent offers, going back to his own chicken. "I hit up a few different party towns when I first got to this dimension and had hardly any inhibitions to hold me back and more than enough alchemically-created gold to burn."
