On a Wing and New Technology ((Open))

After getting a small feeling working with a bunch of heroes to bring down some supernatural goings on in the city, Vesper determinedly updated his gear. A few test runs and some tweaking, he now had a fully upgraded suit. Now, the bat-suited man was trying to get back on regular patrols. With his recent engagement and his father in town for business, he had been a little lax on getting out.

An updraft helped carry him higher as he looked for action. He felt the need to put feet and fists into good use. Or maybe the new gear needed a night out. Either way he was scouring the streets with his hearing to find something other than noise from televisions that sounded dangerous.

"It's not usually this quiet." His voice came out hushed. "Even if the gang is not doing much of anything, the neighborhood has life and noise."

He scanned the streets below, but it was too still. So still, he startled when a shot rang out at the end of the block.

"It's not quiet anymore."

Liza turned and prepared to run across the roof towards the shots.

"You fly, I'll follow up here."

Vesper nodded. He was slightly concerned because the shots weren't aimed at him. Turf war could be a problem if the gangs he kept tabs on moved.

He waited until Hellkitten was safely running toward danger before spreading his wings. He jumped off the roof and headed toward the sound of a shoot-out.

Liza took off running, easily leaping between the rater closely set roofs in this part of the city. When she got to the building closest to the sound of the shots she crouched down, and peered over the edge.

In the street below were two groups trading fire over a card table between them. One group was the local gang wearing their colors. The other was dressed in three piece suits and wearing sunglasses at night.

There were two gym bags sitting on the card table, but the volleys of gunfire were ripping through them.

Vesper knew the locals, but he had no clue who the guys in suits were. They definitely weren't from around New York from what he'd seen.

As tempting as it would be to let them kill each other, he wanted to deal with gangs he knew, not new ones. Also, the letting them kill each other thing was wrong.

So, the winged bat-guy dove for one of the suited guys in the back. He aimed for a lift and toss. He needed a clear area and the two groups' attentions.

Liza aimed her Cat's Claw line for one of the guns in the hand of a local gang member, to snag it, and yank it out of his hand.
