A Story Begins (Intro Post, Open to Mansion Folk)

When his mother told him that she was sending him somewhere to train to be a hero, Richard had thought that she was pulling his leg. Of course, he realized that she was dead serious when he was put on a plane and took a cab to a large mansion where some former associates of hers lived. Okay, she might have called them something else, but Richard was choosing to visualize them as old friends as opposed to something negative. Either way, they were going to be his friends, which was all that really mattered to him.

Once he got all of his stuff up to the door, Richard opened the door and poked his head through. "Hello! Anyone there," he called out as he started to drag his stuff through the door. Hopefully, someone would show up to tell him where he could place his things for the time being.

"Eh, not like I'm much good against 'em either," Rose said.

"But get yerself thinkin' of a code name anyway."

"Yeah, I've been trying to think of one, but it hasn't been easy." It would have been easier if his mother had just had one that he could have inherited like her powers, but that was a no go. "So what is yours?"

Another grin. "Dad's suggestion. Said it used to belong to someone he knows. But it fits. Ya get me goin'... I'm kinda crazy."

Rose laughed. He'd probably see the darker side of her soon enough. Lucky enough Feathers hadn't.

"Not that many," she said. "Mostly just the kids of the teachers and X-Men. Lots of folks gone home for the summer."

Rose nodded. "Course, about half of 'em are related to me. Two brothers and a sister 'round here somewhere."

"Wow," said Richard, "All of your siblings have powers?" That must have made raising them pretty interesting.

"Well, two out of the three so far," Rose said. "Dork One and Dork Two got powers, but Em's too young fer 'em yet."

"So there is a pack of Wild Children running around this place," asked Richard. "How interesting."

Rose laughed. "Dunno how wild they are. That's mostly me. Dork 1's gotten all responsible, and Dork 2's way nicer than me."

"I guess I won't be mixing any of you up," said Richard. "Of course, I might end up calling them Dork 1 and Dork 2 upon meeting them."

That got Rose snickering. "I'd be okay with that."

"I'm sure you would," responded Richard with a smile. "But would they?"

More snickering. "Well, that's beside the point."

"Well I'd rather avoid getting the point from one of your siblings claws, so I should probably learn their names."

Then a smile appeared on his face as he thought of something. "Or are their barks worse than their bites?"

"Eh, I'm the only one with claws," Rose explained. "Misha an' David are both softies, really. Misha's too smart and David's too nice ta be nasties like me."

"Oh, so you are the only one that I have to worry about," said Richard with a smile. "That is very good to know."
