What was I thinking? [Felicity]

After returning from the solo mission that had gone upside down thanks to HYDRA, Nika had gone to a medical professional to check how bad her wounds were stitched. She had all the confidence in Felicity while in the plane, but she wanted a professional opinion about possible scarring. She was sure some of the amazed invectives while examining her wounds would be useful later.

Since then she had kept herself busy until the day rolled around for getting coffee with Felicity. The Symkarian wasn't sure how this would go or if she should be even doing it. She could almost hear her mother's lecture moving along to the cadence of the elder Sable's pacing. Nika was sure there was no one else on the planet as good at frustrating her mother like herself.

Opting not to go to coffee in a tactical corset, Nika rummaged through her closet to find something suitable. It took the third outfit choice for her to realize she was distracted. She tried to focus on one color with some accents. And no animal prints. Why did she have tiger-striped pants?

She smoothed down her tight pencil skirt outside of the coffee shop. Then she adjusted her fitted jacket. It was possibly a tad too dressy for a casual coffee... date, but it made Nika feel better. Particularly as the jacket was tailored to hide the weapons she had hidden about her torso. She took a breath and pushed the door open.

"You were shot, sweetie," Felicity said. "Again." Pause. "Is this going to be a regular thing? Because in addition to handcuffs, I can start carrying around bandages and Neosporin too. Maybe some needles and thread."

"My goodness," Felicity said wryly. "You're like a walking one-woman weapon store. I'm not sure whether to be impressed or mortified."

It was then that a line of four arge, nondescript white vans pulled up in front of them. An elderly woman - seemingly frail, but with a sort of toughness about her expression - climbed out of the first one, followed by a gaggle of uniformed men.

Ann-Marie Hoag, the owner and founder of Damage Control.

Felicity nodded at her, indicating the still-knocked-out woman at her feet and then stepped away, nodding at Nika. "We can go. These guys can handle the rest."

"You mean this?" Felicity reached behind her and pulled the baton out from where she'd tucked it into the waistband of her jeans. "I grabbed it as you tried to put distance between the crazy one and innocent cafe patrons." She handed it over to Nika. "May need a washing, though. It made contact with the nostril of a zombie tiger."

"I wouldn't say forget?" Felicity said. "I mean, okay, disaster struck. But we're the daughters of costumed folk, who wear costumes ourselves and do things that most people think only happens in action movies. As far as first dates go, neither of us died, lost body parts, or were kidnapped. That's actually a mild success, don't you think?"

"Oh, no, I'm definitely up for it. Though I'm thinking dinner this time. Someplace swanky, with low-cut dresses and lots of wine," Felicity said, taking a step closer to Nika. "There's a few good places I know of. One very close to a hotel and...wait." Felicity raised an eyebrow. "You're not asking me out because you're hoping for another violent interruption again, are you?"

Felicity blinked as Nika stepped back. That...that was not how she had expected Nika to react. She'd expected some more avoiding-the-topic and possibly some shop talk.

"Wow," the blonde-haired thief said, her just-kissed lips curving into a smile. "You really are just full of surprises today. I like it."
