A Walk to the Lake
After Dr. Reyes took a look at him, Dolemeck was urged to use his pain medication less, and to try and walk more to strengthen his legs. He did not argue with this diagnosis. His legs suffered from nerve damage to his back, but if they lost strength, he would not be able to use his leg braces. The thought of ending up in a wheelchair again was depressing, so he agreed to try and exercise more to maintain what strength he had left.
He slid his arms into a pair of crutches that Dr. Reyes provided, and began his walk from the mansion, to the lake, and back. Only he was not alone... Dr. Reyes suggested he go with another student. And the first one to volunteer... was Bobbi.

"So, what's it like over there? I mean I've seen it on TV, but really I'm displaced too, came here from the West Coast, still trying to get used to how cold it is..." She giggled because really cold didn't bother her much, why would it when she spent most of her time trying to control that ability.

"Went to a private school where most of the graduates ended up going to military training, or upscale colleges." She slowed down a little realizing she was moving a little fast for him. "It sucked being the smallest in class there. But here, even though I'm one of the smallest they don't pick on me because of it."
no subject
"I decided to spend another two years at that school. I could have gone to college, but I did not feel ready. Where I come from, College is different from yours. Your colleges are equivalent to our Universities. It led to a bit of confusion as to what grade I am in, here."
no subject
"And I'm taking high school level classes, but I think in the normal system I'd only be junior high. I like the challenge of my lessons, even if some of them take a little longer to figure out."
no subject
He chuckled, not complaining if Bobbi got ahead of him. It just made him want to catch up more.
"My parents are always touring, I rarely get to see them. My eldest brother, Dayton, he took care of me. Made sure I got into the good schools, had money, was provided for... but I always felt like something was lacking. Even if I felt like that, I never complained none. I was happy."

"I'm probably an only child. I mean as far as I know... It's... complicated." And my parents, didn't know I existed until I showed up here. Pretty sure Dr. McCoy's told both of them. And I have half siblings, but don't know them too well." Sh shrugged a little. "All I know is I'm happier here." She glanced at him. "I'm not pushing you too hard am I? I don't want to over do things for you."
no subject
"That all sounds... complicated, and confusing." He admitted, raising an eyebrow. "The press always speculates me Da has lots of children outside of his marriage, all because he's such a big rock-star. Every time someone claimed to be his, it was always proven wrong. If it was ever proven right, I do not know what I would do, honestly. It would be nice to have another sibling, I guess. But I would worry about me Mum, you know. Such news would be... I do not know what I would do if I were in her shoes. I do not know how she handles all the gossip and tabloids as it is. Strong woman she is."
He was already breaking a sweat as he continued to follow Bobbi.
"You are not pushing me too hard. Do not worry. If I needed a break or to stop, I would like you know."
no subject
"When you're blood related to heroes I think complicated family is mandatory. I'm kind of related to two members of the original class at Xavier's. Professor Drake being one." She's silent about comments about mothers, only because she doesn't know if the robot caring for her counted.
She does feel bad since she hasn't even started to break out in a sweat yet. She cools the air a little around them. "That help?"

He laughed a little, before stopping for a moment to catch his breath. He was almost at the lake. He could feel such pride for just getting this far, and he was going to make it over there!

She giggled. "I just burn off all the calories. Seriously I think at times I could probably eat a few horses and still be hungry. not that I would!"
no subject
He started to walk again, this time walking at the same pace as Bobbi.
"I wonder what we will be having, tonight. I did not realize how "rich" American food is in taste! It takes a bit to get used to. And I must admit, I do miss having a nice Shepard's pie every so often."
no subject
"I think Hanna was preparing meatloaf when I left. Or we're having burgers." She thinks a moment. "That's with mashed potatoes meat and veggies right? like onions and corn?"
no subject
There was a sudden blush that came across his face.
"I had to take Home Economics in the All Girl's school, because I could not take part in gym or any physical activities. The school was next to mine and a bit of a walk. It wasn't so bad. I really liked taking that class and learning to cook and sew by hand. Using a machine with the leg braces on is just bloody murder!"
no subject
"You think you could teach me? Would be fun to be able to make costumes for halloween this fall and not have to custom store bought ones for my wings."
no subject
When the mention of Halloween came up, he looked a little confused.
"You mean "All Soul's Day"?" he asked. "That is what it is called at home. I never got to dress up or take part in it. Too dangerous, as I could be kidnapped and held for ransom."
no subject
"It's fun! You'll have to come trick or treating with us. Really it's one of the only days where those of us who look different aren't feared."
no subject
They were nearly to the lake, now. he was close to wanting to drop. Hopefully once they got there, he could sit down for a few and relax. Gather his strength before making his way back to the mansion.

"I do not know who I would dress up as." he admitted.
no subject
"Anything you want really. It's a day to be someone else. If only pretend. I know, a childish thing, but it's really fun, even adults get into it."
no subject
He accepted the cold drink, taking a few sips of it. he did not want to admit he was a little thirsty, but it was nice to know Bobbi cared enough to notice.
"Aye, the Snow Queen was not just beautiful but scary. I could sketch out how I could make the dress look for you. We could make your wings look like they have sharp icicles coming from them, use some make-up to make you look almost like a zombie..."
no subject
She opened her own soda as she pulled out her sketchbook laning against the tree. Her pencil flew over the page, roughing out a sketch of him.
"I've been practicing with that... forming ice on them so I can fly."
no subject
Shrugging his shoulders, he slumped back against the tree, trying to relax a bit more. Closing his eyes, he used his own powers to unstrap his leg braces and untie his shoes so he could get more comfortable. The leg braces floated to rest by his crutches, along with his sneakers and socks.

Hopefully they would not get in trouble for being late for lunch.
