Alisa could not stand being left alone in Alistaire's apartment all the time. While Reiko was good company, there really was nothing to do. She felt somewhat useless, a burden, and agitated by how Alistaire treated Reiko so openly. He was all over Reiko like a horny dog, confirming that her personal writings in her diary before being shot were accurate. She was nothing more than a tool to a sociopath, and she let it happen.

She was glad she could feel something, instead of the numbness that plagued her a majority of the time. But those small somethings were not enough. While Reiko and Alistaire slept in their own bedrooms, Alisa grabbed some clothes from her closet and put them on. A pair of black dress pants, a white dress shirt, and a black vest. She decided to go without her wig, thinking perhaps her new "Annie Lennox" hair-do would work for her.

With her shoes in one hand, she began to sneak out of her room. Before one of Alistaire's guards could spot her, or take her back to her room, she physically knocked him out with a single blow from her free hand. She caught the guard before he could make noise by hitting the ground, and then took his keycard from his person. Perhaps having a lack of emotions was kind of helpful, as she was now more effective in the way she went about using her powers and knowledge.

She used the keycard to get out of the apartment, as well as lock it behind her. Once outside of the apartment, Alisa slipped on her dress shoes and made her way out of the building. Not by elevator, but by using the stairs. The stairs had less of a chance of getting her detected than the elevator did... a flaw she might have to fix one of these days.

Alisa used some of her power to move faster than normal, so she could get out of the building sooner and avoid getting dragged back inside. It took her less than five minutes to get on the streets of Manhattan... and go where? Perhaps some place that would make her feel something? She remembered the taco truck she and Ryan went to one night, and decided to head in that direction.

It was not long before she was acosted by someone. Even though Manhattan was cleaned up, there were still thugs who would try to rob anyone with money about the city. Her arm was grabbed and she was pulled between two buildings.

"Hand over your wallet, freak!" The thug demanded. This only made Alisa smile... something she had not done in a long time.

"Only if you can take it..." That thug all of a sudden turned pale. That alleyway was now filled with the sounds of a pretty bad fight, only all the cries of pain and screams were male. Alisa was back in her element.

"So do you," Ryan said. And then he blanched a little. "Wow. He must really go after the low self-esteemers if he can keep people content." Ryan polished off his third taco in three precise bites. "What about the Thieves Guild? I'm sure they'd love to have a slice of Alistair's property once he's well-disposed of. Though, granted, if you can scrounge up something for SHIELD, you wouldn't really need anyone else."

"You really don't want for enemies, do you?" Ryan asked seriously. "How does one girl make everyone hate her so much that they all either want her dead or want nothing at all to do with her?" He tapped on the counter of the taco truck and ordered up two Mexican Cokes. He handed one bottle over to Alisa. "Then don't play nice. Get even. Do whatever you have to do. Just don't get killed in the process." He clinked his bottle with hers as a little cheers. "You'll feel happy again. I know it doesn't feel like it, Alisa, but you will. Maybe once this mess with Alistaire is over."

Ryan blinked, looking down at the envelope. He looked back up at Alisa and stared at her quietly, for a long moment. He got it. He understood it. They were, at the very least, friends. There were no hard feelings on Ryan's part, after all, and it was probably better that whoever had power of attorney was someone who wasn't directly connected in Alisa's dealings with Alistaire.

He nodded and then took the envelope, tucking it into his messenger bag. That was going to be a fun conversation with Mellie, if the topic ever came up.

"That's a lot to take in, Alisa," he said. "But alright. Although I'm sure it won't come to that." He took another sip of the Mexican Coke. "But seriously. Get whatever information you can. Take it to SHIELD. Let them handle the nitty-gritty. Heck, maybe they'll even let you become an agent of theirs."

"Probably that mutant town settlement thing that people have been talking about?" She'd be safe there, right? The Pier was out of the question for all of the obvious reasons, and she clearly couldn't go back to Xavier's. As far as he knew, Alisa also didn't have any contacts with the Avengers. "Or a really nice hotel room that you can rent with a prepaid credit card." He reached out and pulled Alisa into a hug. "You'll be okay. Alistaire can't really hurt you unless you let him."

The best bet, when all of this was over, would probably be for her to let SHIELD take her into witness protection or something. That was the only way she'd ever be able to start fresh and clean, away from everything.

"That...depends? I mean. Things are pretty exclusive between Mellie and myself." He quirked up an eyebrow. "What's going on?"

"Hey, in these types of situations, that one-last-thing-together usually means that," Ryan said. "So, you know. I was covering my bases before you thought of stealing one, or however that sports analogy works." He reached out and hugged her again. "I would have loved to Alisa, but I've already kept Mellie waiting longer than she should have been waiting. Can I take a raincheck?"
