Lake Side Party

" This is going to be a blast!" Dolemeck thought to himself as he followed the other students towards the lake. The campus was still under-going construction, and while they could have just thrown a pool party... the lake seemed like the better option for a bunch of rowdy teenagers. "It's such a perfect day for this sort of thing! I am so glad the headmistress approved of this party!

Eventually, Dolemeck made it down to the lack, using his powers to carry a basket that held some suntan lotion and a town. He had been here before with Bobbi, but never close to the dock or the boathouse. Some of the kids were already in the water, splashing about, and swimming. It was paradise.

Bobbi was already in the water, she knew her wings would take longer to dry, but cold water when you're cursed to wear a feather blanket on your back... She'll live with that.

"Dolemeck!" She saw him and waved, taking her attention off the water fight she was in for a moment.

He smiled, waving at Bobbi from the shore. She looked thrilled and as though she were having the best day of her life. That was until the water fight started up again and there was more splashing about.

Dolemeck chuckled as he used his teleknetic powers to lay out a blanket for himself, away from the water. Once the blanket was perfectly set, he sat down upon it. He then would focused his powers to start removing his leg braces and set them aside.

Of course he had some swim trunks on and a white T-shirt, but it did not mean he could go swimming. Instead, Dolemeck just sat on his blanket watching the other students had fun. He continued to smile, just enjoying watching everyone else get splashed on or seeing who could swim the farthest without powers. Eventually he would take a book out of the bag he had carried with him to the lake, and start reading.

She sputtered as she was splashed and yelped dunking herself under the water, some of the student's yelped a little when the water got a little colder, not enough to be dangerous, but hey she was having fun.

A few minutes later she waded out of the water and went to grab her towel from where it was on the dock before plopping herself on the grass near Dolemeck.

"Hey, if you want to go out there we can use the canoes."

"Thank you Bobbi, but I think I am just fine right were I am..." He smiled. He did not want to tell Bobbi he feared he could not even paddle the canoe. Though the sudden mention of a boat got him thinking. "Hey Bobbi? Can you get me one of the life jackets from the canoe, instead? I might be able to go in the lake if I have one on!"

That was a brilliant idea! He could just float about in the lake in a life vest, and have fun like the rest of them! Why did he not think of this earlier when he was getting ready to go to the lake?

"Yo! What's up, y'all!" Kayla sauntered over to the lakeside, unbuttoned shirt over a swimsuit. She'd debated over whether to go one-piece or bikini, but the fact was that there was a little bit of unwanted rib showing from a long period of extreme ennui. It'd take some pretty hardcore eating and working out to get back into ideal shape.

Kayla set her stuff down, and ran down the pier as fast as she could, and made a cannonball into the water.

Of late, Topher hadn't really been around the X-Mansion. Between Kayla's emotional issues and Brooke's general Brookieness, Rachel had wisely sent the young mutant away to where raging emotions wouldn't overload him and release the evil thing lurking within his psyche.

But Brooke was currently elsewhere, and Kayla had returned to normal, so Topher was finally back on a full-time basis, laying on his back, staring up into the sun. It felt good, this. Being back. He'd visited briefly, but being permanently back was better.

After all, no other place was home.

He yelled in surprise, and then laughed, as a wave generated from Kayla's cannonball tossed him out of his position. He grinned. "You're back!"

There was a scrawny red-haired guy making his way to the lake slowly. He had a towel slung over his shoulder as he cautiously moved toward party central. It had taken him awhile to drum up the nerve to show up. Well, time a little gentle prodding from Dani.

He scratched his neck as he tried to figure out the best spot to put his towel. Maybe he could sit on the shore in his swim trunks and t-shirt and watch everybody else had fun.

As Dolemeck waited for an answer from Bobbi, he waved over to the scrawny looking kid. He was all smiles, even chuckling a little before speaking.

"Oy! There is space over here if you are looking for one!" Dolemeck shouted towards him. "It's not as crowded, and you do not risk getting splashed!"

Using his telekinetic powers, he moved his leg braces from the side of his towel, to rest up against a tree a few feet away. This way, Pete would have more room if he wanted it.

Bobbi had run off to get the vest for Dolemeck, returning in time to see Kayla's cannonball.

"Alright Kayla! I think you managed to get everyone who wasn't in the water soaked now." She grinned knowing that wasn't exactly true. Though she did run back to Dolemeck to help him out.

"Hey Topher!" She waved at him.

"Hey Dolemeck, wanna see me beat her cannonball?" The idea was crazy, but hey wasn't like she could get hurt from a fall.

Kayla grinned as she bobbed up. Mission accomplished.

"CHIEF!" She called out exuberantly, swimming over to give him a hug. "I missed you!" She grinned over at Bobbi. "You think that wasn't my intention the whole time? This is a lake party! People get wet at lake parties!

And let's see you try, Snow Devil!"

Topher hugged Kayla back and waved at Bobbi. "It's good to be back," he laughed. "And you look better. That makes me super-happy," he added. "I mean. We were all worried there."

He turned, then, and gestured to Pete, calling his name.

"The water's perfect, man! Come on in!"

Pete carefully picked his way down to the shore. He glanced out at the huggy Kayla and Topher. He swallowed a bit and set out his towel as a means of procrastination.

"Uh, n-no thanks. I'll... soak up some sun first." He was a pale redhead. He wasn't sure if he'd burn. Turtles usually had the daytime hours outside of class. He sat down right smack in the middle of his towel. It was the base of a fluffy Lego fort or something.

Instead of asking if Pete was sure. Dolemeck just smiled and respected his choice to sit by himself. he then removed his own shirt, revealing many surgical scars on his body. He let Bobbi help him get into his life vest, before answering her back.

"Bobbi, show her how it is done. But do not hurt yourself in the process." He gave Bobbi a wink before dragging himself by his elbows towards the water.

He looked like a solider in basic training with how he moved. Eventually, Dolemeck got into the water and flipped on to his back. He continued to use his upper body to get himself into the water so he was deep enough to start floating around. He gave off a very happy laugh, resting his hands on the life vest as he floated in the water. It was like the greatest moment of his life.

Bobbi grinned seeing Dolemeck was going to join them in the water. "Hey Topher, wanna give me a boost?" She pointed up grinning. "About thirty feet should do it."

Topher grinned and swam over to Bobbi. "I've got your back, little one."
