It's not a date? (Open Avengers and Vincent)

Mira was scrambling, trying to find something decent to wear, even if technically she was just going to visit Vincent in the lab. Six outfits later she came out of her room, Lucifer over her shoulder. She was actually wearing HEELS! the skirt was tastefully summery and the sleeveless blouse looked more model than rocker.

"Ugh, I'm already running late," She started for the door, dialing for a cab because no way in hell was she going to ride her bike in this get up. Hopefully no one else in the house would see her dolled up, she had a feeling she'd never live it down.

She watched him a moment and pulled her hand back when he did. Her wrist did feel a little better.

"You didn't have to do that Vincent... But thank you." She smiled a little. She had an idea of what she wanted already. French onion soup and she wanted to try the lime cured tuna. Hey she may not like being in the water, but food from the sea's awesome!

He shrugs, looking over the menu. "Money is for spending. Toys are for playing with. Magic is for using. I've got the cheat codes to the universe. No sense in not exploiting them when there's a use for it."

"Even if that use is caused by human error?" She grinned a little. "Even after so long, still learning it's capabilities after all." Though she decided to change topic on him. "So, any other projects you probably shouldn't tell me about?"

"I think human error is the root of most advancement, magical, scientific, or otherwise. Right alongside necessity, greed, or trying to impress the opposite sex." Vincent smirks.

He settles on the fried seafood ravioli. He needs something with a bit of weight to it.

"So do you think you need to impress me?" She's grinning obviously putting him on the spot to tease him.

Their orders are taken and they're left on their own again while it's prepared.

He smiles softly, after a moment to consider it.

"I'd... like you to be impressed by me."

She flashed a grin that hinted she could be mean at that moment. "You know, you kinda did that dragging my robotic armored ass out of the Hudson."

He shrugs. "It was just doing the right thing... not sure I should be expecting credit for it."

He fidgets with his menu, before finally asking.

"Is this a date?"

She was silent a moment at his question. "Informally... maybe, formally, just thought it would be nice to drag you to lunch." She was perfectly fine with it not being a date.

"Give me a second..." He shuts his eyes and collects his thoughts.

"Mira, I like you. You're intelligent, selfless, very attractive, and fun to be with. My last relationship was... it was the only serious one I ever had, and the way it ended did a lot of damage to me that I'm, to be honest, still not quite over.

I'd be interested in dating you, but I don't want to be leading you on. I'm not ready to just be leaping into something serious."

She let out a sigh of relief. "Last serious relationship I had was years ago, so I'm totally cool with us staying in the friend zone a while." She smiled. "Though I would like it to be more if it can, but I'm cool with us both easing into it."

He smiles, relieved as well. "I'm not saying I'm ruling it out forever... I just think I don't know myself that well at times."

"So this totally is just us having lunch together not a date." She grinned brightly at him. "And, know what you mean, lately I'm not sure what to do with myself at all. well other than threaten Jay with show tunes. But there's only so many I can play or hum before I need a break."

"Well... don't sell it short. You're an exceptional woman, Mira. Anyone would be proud to be on a date with you."

Because yes, now that he's put in the disclaimer, Vincent is reflecting upon the fact that he likes Mira quite a bit.

She laughed a little. "And really keep that up and I'll take it back on this not being a date date Vincent." She liked the compliments, though liked spending time with him so really she wasn't about to scare him off.

"...you could." He says simply, taking a drink of water to steady himself afterwards.

She giggled at that. "I don't want to force you into things Vincent."

"You're not.

But maybe someone should." He smiles softly. "I like you Mira. I'm not dating anyone else, and neither are you to the best of my knowledge. I think that's enough."

She shook her head. "Nope this isn't a formal date date." She was smiling though.

"This is friends out for lunch. Since it was a total spur of the moment thing."

"I think we could have a date without it needing to be 'formal'. I think I prefer you in your band gear than dressed to the nines." He gives her a wolfish grin, trying to mask his confusion.

Girls.

She giggled. "Torn jeans and shirts, really? Most people here hate the grunge look." Though she will admit she can pull it off with style. "Though it's better than the dresses I wear at the other club. Only because they look better with heels. Luckily I don't have to move too much so flats are fine."

"You look lovely in anything, but comfort is always a lady's best accessory." He raises his glass with the statement.

"Wise words Vincent." She lifted her glass to that as well smiling brightly at him.

"Yes, well... I am one of the smartest people alive." He allows himself to preen, downing the contents of his glass.

That got a laugh from her. "You know only guys with egos that need boosting say that. But it is cute on you." She hid the blush with her drink.
