A few months had passed since Tina's boyfriend decided to confess to not being who he had said he was while simultaneously insisting that his feelings (and their relationship) were real. She had decided to go on vacation, then came back to New York for a bit, then decided that going back to the villa in Tuscany just would be uncomfortable and awkward. Steve-Quinn was welcome to stay as long as he wanted, though. She was mad, not going to make someone homeless.

She'd simmered down considerably, though, and decided to attempt to figure out where things were with them. She had no expectations, though she was pretty sure no Italian hookers had been involved. She left a message with Steve-Quinn asking him to meet her at a restaurant in New York. She knew he was in the city. She'd checked the customs computers.

Tina's first question was a punch to the gut. He should have expected it but the answer was painful.

"Total? Two, that I know of. That sounds like a terrible answer but I need to break it down." he said.

"I've killed two people in the line of duty. My abilities lend themselves to assassination really well but I've never had to use them for that. The two people I killed were fights to save another agent or someone I worked with." he said.

"It's possible that I've killed one other person but...I don't know. I don't remember doing it, only waking up with the murder weapon in hand. That's the reason I was even in London in the first place when we met. I was, and technically am, still on the run from SHIELD." Quinn said.

"So I met you while you were on the lam. Noted. Next question. Ever sleep with someone in the name of your job?"

Quinn shook his head emphatically.

"Never. Not once." he said.

Tina studied him for a moment. She looked at him carefully and observed his body language.

"Were you ever asked to?"

"Lucky for me, no. I know a few agents who don't mind doing it. Or they don't care if they have to. I even know one who slept with someone and then killed them." Quinn said, looking a little uncomfortable at the topic.

"I can't just sleep with someone as part of a role. There has to be something there." he said.

"I believe you. And I'm really glad because the idea of sex being casual is just not a comfortable one for me."

"I hope you never thought you were part of a mission or a role. I'd never do that to you, Tina." Quinn said.

"I wondered, actually. I was pretty messed up after you told me about things. Which reminds me, if you ever meet my friend Rose she will probably punch you."

"How many people did you tell about our little confessional?" he asked.

"Only Rose. She is my one friend."

"You never spoke about her." he said.

"I also never spoke of my odd family dynamic."

"Well, I didn't talk about my family and friends so I can't be mad."

"You might like Rose. When she decides she doesn't want to kill you."

"We'll see." he chuckled.

"Do you have other questions?" he asked.

"Why don't you just face SHIELD?"

"Because I'd go to prison...if I'm lucky. Otherwise, I'll just disappear and you won't see me again. And I don't get a chance of finding my mother." he said.

"And there's no chance that you're wrong about how SHIELD would handle it? You're, apparently, a Barton after all."

"That's the thing. They can't really give me a pass because of my parents. Sends the wrong message."

"I don't think they'd give you a pass, but I do think they'd go the extra mile to clear your name."

"I wish I knew that for sure, babe. But I can't take that chance until I've got some proof." he said.

"You do realize that any proof you would get they would discount if it were you that brought said proof to them, right? That's how these things usually work."

"Well, yeah. That's why I find the proof and then get another party to give it to them." Quinn said.

"I feel like you are over-complicating this in ways that you can't even begin to keep a handle on."

"Me? Over-complicate things? Babe, I'm the /master/ of keeping it simple. I'm a guy. I'm so simple, I make simple look like calculus." Quinn told her.

"But spy stuff really is complex. You'd make a hot spy, though. Just saying."
