Dancing Queens
Enough time had passed since Felicity and Nika's last date. This time, she was hoping on nothing villainous happening when she dragged Nika out of the office for a night of dancing.
Maybe dancing will provide all of the action that we need tonight and no villains will surprise us.
Yeah. Right.
She shook her head and smoothed down the skirt of her obnoxiously sparkly dress. She couldn't help it, though. The cat in Felicity Thompson liked a little sparkle. She reached up and adjusted an earring.
Tucking her clutch - filled with some requisite weaponry - under her arm, Felicity strode out of her lab and towards Nika's office. She didn't bother knocking on the door, though. What would Nika be doing in there anyway? Working? Napping? Nothing else.
She slunk into the room and posed in the doorway, a smile curving her lacquered lips upwards. "Well, well. Looks like someone needs a break."

"You tell me. I mean, you're the boss woman. Me, I'm fine with people knowing that we're seeing each other in a not-entirely-professional way. But if that makes you nervous, then I can keep the you-and-I stuff out of the work place." She was nothing if not a mostly consummate professional.

She waited for Felicity to lead the way to the car before she would fall into step beside her. "I don't kn-ugh. I'm not sure. Mother can't really say a thing because she married her field team leader, but I'm not sure what the right steps are. Outside of having Lisa handle your reviews and non-field issues. Because I'd be biased." Nika's elder sister had had an odd knowing sort of look on her face when Nika told her about. It gave the Symkarian the heebie jeebies how calm and rational Lisa had been about it. Encouraging even.

Once outside, Nika would notice a black Town Car waiting for them, the driver standing by the rear door. An insignia on the door proclaimed the car to be one of Happy's Hackneys. Owned by a Happy Hogan, it was one of the city's finest private town car services.
Felicity slid inside gracefully. "Well, Lisa handling all of that does make sense." She frowned lightly. "Look, if us being a thing is going to be a professional issue, though, there are two ways we can play this. I could leave the Wild Pack," which would leave Nika without a tech person again, "or we could...not pursue this any further." There was no sarcasm in Felicity's voice, no taunting. She was being straightforward and honest. "All of that is up to you, Nika. I'm fine playing it however you want to."

She got in after Felicity and settled down. Only to have her smile disappear into a soft frown. "Just like... no. It's not a problem. I'll deal with any problems when they arise. Right now, we're going out. And I like that."

Nika glanced over with a slight smirk. "She won't be a threat to your tech whiz job."

"However, none of the qualities excite anything romantic or lustful in me. She is very not my type. I have a feeling I'm too small, squishy, and female to be anything of interest outside of her boss for her." She reached over and settled her hand on top of one of Felicity's.

Life was full of surprises. Felicity had learned that the hard, unpleasant way.
She let Nika take her hand and smiled at her date. "Hey, I believe that boss. But still. Let's hope she's a team player."

"That... might make a few training sessions. I get the feeling she usually did things solo. Though I'm afraid to pair her up for outside security at the high society wedding we're providing security for." Nika had picked up that Gina had a thing for big, green men. She sighed.
"But enough about business. You're supposed to be rescuing me from that sort of thing."
no subject
Might have been a step up from them humping like rabbits all over the place, though.
She leaned back in the seat and grinned. "Okay, no business. What's on your mind, boss?"
no subject
Nika drummed her free hand on her thigh. "Hmm. Since we're going on a date, stop calling me 'boss.'"
no subject
Although, okay, it would be cute if she did.

"Mm. A year or two ago. With my niece or nephew or maybe both. It's been awhile." Nika did not know how to Macarena or the Ketchup song dance. Though she could do a mean Cha Cha Slide.

She nodded as the car pulled up to the club. "Good, then this will be fun for you. I hear of girls who do this on a regular basis and get kind of bored with it." She slid out of the car and held her hand out to Nika. "We're on the list, so there should be no issue getting in." Not that there would have been regardless, the way these two looked, but as adventurous as Felicity was, for some things she liked a little planning and protection.

"I wouldn't have time to do this regularly. Or the inclination without the right company." She took the offered hand and got out of the car. She may have climbed out and straightened to a stand a little closer to Felicity than was possibly needed. The distance may have been wanted, however.
"Hmm."
no subject
"Well, no, you do have a lot on your plate. Which is why I figured you needed this night out." She squeezed Nika's hand warmly and sidled up to her just enough. "Relax. I promise I won't bite you tonight."
no subject
She looked back up to Felicity's blue eyes. Which oddly reminded her she hadn't given her date a proper greeting. So, Nika leaned in for a quick kiss. "Not even a nibble, huh?"

She grinned up at the bouncer - an impossibly beautiful, well-built man who looked more like a Greek demigod than he did a bouncer. But his looks belied his strength and power. That was how Venus did things, of course. Power through beauty and all that.
She nodded at him and they let the two women into the club.
The inside of Anthemusa was rich, luxurious, and utterly modern. It seemed bright inside, warm and cozy, not at all like most nightclubs. Despite the crowd, one wouldn't feel crushed or lost within it. Venus' wards over the place were strong indeed.
Felicity grinned and went straight for the bar. "I'll have a Bijou," she said. "And my friend will have...?" she turned to Nika, questioningly.

Nika blinked at Felicity and then at the bartender. "In America. Right. I'll have a Cinderella." Which sounded slightly more classy than a Brown Pelican or a Flying Fairbrother.

"Non-alcoholic drink. I'm under the American legal drinking age." Though she could and has gotten sloshed at home. "I like to keep appearances of following rules so it can be easier to skirt others."

Nika couldn't help the snicker that came from Felicity being gobsmacked. It happened so rarely that it was kind of amusing and cute at the same time.
"I'm nearly twenty. How old did you think I was?" She tried to ignore the sinking feeling she could be dismissed for being too young again.
