Being a SHIELD agent engaged to someone with known criminal ties and effectively being blackmailed for it? Very high awkwardness levels approaching.

Being a SHIELD agent engaged to someone with known criminal ties, effectively being blackmailed for it and actually liking the gal? Weird, hot, and STILL very awkward.

Being a SHIELD agent engaged to someone with known criminal ties, effectively being blackmailed for it, actually liking the gal, and wishing to let the family know there's at least a relationship going? This was the pinnacle of weirdness that Steve Coulson found himself in. How in the blue hell was he going to bring this up to his twin sister, let alone his father?

So for now Steve went on totally normal. Business as usual. Yes. That's it. Business as usual.

Totally and utterly normal.

"Hey, I'm actually about five minutes away from mine. I'm kind of in the mood for a pastrami sandwich," Steve said, ducking himself back a bit so that it wasn't obvious he was on the phone. Which isn't all that bad, he wasn't in a restricted area, but it still would be considered...unprofessional.

Nikki knew something was up with her brother. They were twins, she *knew*...but she also knew he needed to come to her...

Still, it pleased her to see him from behind as she rounded the corner, "Hey dork...Lunch. Food. Pizza?"

"Pastrami sounds wonderful! I happen to know a good deli!" Alisa smiled, grabbing her purse. "It's on 52nd street. Will i see you there?"

She blinked, hearing another woman's voice in the distance. He said he had a sister, after-all. Or it could be a co-worker.

"Steve?"

"Huh? Wha-oh. Hey, Nikki." Shit "Sorry, I was already making arrangements for lunch. Can I get a rain check on that pizza?"

Steve was making it clear from the one sided part of this conversation that he was not ditching Alisa. She offered first. Plus, it's good to spend time with the new fiance significant other.

"I'm heading out of town tomorrow. We'll just have to catch up when I get back....*if* I get back..." Hey, nothing like laying on the guilt trip...

"Hey Steve, whoever that is with you, why don't you just invite them along?" Alisa grinned, walking out the door of the hotel. "No sense in letting your friend or sister go hungry now, right?"

"Nikki, don't you start-" Steve starts when he hears Alisa speak. Steve looks a smidgeon mortified when he heard what he did on the phone. Alisa wants to meet Nikki? Oh sweet merciful crap this won't end well. But...he's bewteen a rock and a hard place, and it's much more literal than he would like. After a few moments, his attention goes to the phone

"Hey, are you gonna pass any pizza places? My sister asked for that and she wants to join."

That made her eyebrows shoot up...but...he was deferring to a slice...and he'd pay, so she kept it zipped..for now.

"Pizza and your sister? Yeah, sure! Meet me at Lombardi's! I'll save us a seat, okay?" She smiled, hailing a cab with some ease. "I'm going to hang up, now. See you soon, love!"

"Excellent, thanks a lot, Alisa," Steve says. "Take care, I'll meet you there" With a quick beep, the phone shuts off and Steve gets up, trying his best to hide the pink on his cheeks. He grabs his jacket off the back of his seat and puts it on with a flourish before turning to his sister.

"Looks like we'll be heading to Lombardis. Sound good to you?"

"Alisa....who's Alisa...???" She had a pretty good guess, what with the blushing...

"Oh, someone I met recently under unusual circumstances. But...well, you'll see when we get there," Steve said, trying and failing to sound cryptic. He can do subtle and cryptic, but right now he just feels like being a bit of a troll.

Awww.....Stevie had a little girlfriend!!!! She grinned...but she didn't rib him about it. She could save that for when she met said girlfriend, "Fair enough..."
