SHIELDed From View ((Mustering SHIELD agents))

Tracking HYDRA activity was a full-time job for some. While New York had been relatively quiet except for a few blips that had been chased after, more solid intel had come from Colombia. It seemed something big was happening there. Some of the faces identified were from the attempted assassination of Silver Sable a few years ago. While Sammy Fury's team had caught most of that nest in New York City, a few had slipped their grasp.

So, with names and a location, a mission was ordered. Summons were sent out to a small team of agents. A room in the Helicarrier awaited their arrivals.

Joe (Open to whoever wants to talk to him)

Joe grabbed his shield and headed for the bus. He was ready to crack some HYDRA skulls. He thought about looking for his mother and saying hello, but decided against it. He needed to be focused on the mission at hand.

Sammy appeared to his left and just out of his reach. "This is going to be messy," she said without preamble.

It was a measure of Joe's trust in Sammy that he didn't jump out of his skin when she was suddenly there. He always wondered what the whole time-dial action thing was like for her. He was a mere human in a world of people with powers of some kind. Even being the son of a super-soldier, he was still a regular guy. That perspective was needed.

"Yeah, it will. For HYDRA." he said, checking his weapons. Gun and chat knife ready. Black and red shield strapped to his back. Check. He wondered how Peggy was doing. He needed to call her and tell her about this soon.

"I think the rest of the team can handle this but we need to watch Simon, especially if they have any heavy-hitters in residence. A nest that big...I can't imagine they don't. Something about this feels wrong, Sammy." Joe said.

"I don't know what it is, but I feel it."

She fell into step with him. "Heavy hitters are all vulnerable to a bullet in the brain," she said, a hard edge to her voice. "I can place thirty in ninety seconds, counting reload time. But you're right, there's something off here. I don't think we'll see it until it's too late. I don't know that we'll be able to watch Simon in this kind of mission. There are too few of us and an entire base to cover. He's going to have to step up and watch his own back."

"Does it strike you as odd that names on this mission are Fury, Rogers, and Coulson? That's a lot of SHIELD history right there. It has a proxy feel to it."

Joe knew she was right but it still worried him. He hoped Simon would remember his training.

He looked at her as she mentioned the names of the people involved in the mission.

"Yeah, that's...wow. I didn't think about until just now but it looks like the torch is passing." Joe said.

"Let's live up to the shoes we're filling on this one. How well do you know the Coulsons? I just really met them the other day during a situation with a hostile in the city. One of them managed to talk her down but it was pretty tense." he said.

Sammy didn't roll her eyes, but it was close. They had both just reacted like their fathers. Sammy saw the short list of agents and imagined the chaos if they didn't come back. Joe saw something inspiring and historic in the choice of agents.

"They're a little older than I am, but they both have good reputations inside the uniform. Steve's more admin inclined and Nikki likes to make things go boom with precision. I read their personnel files once. They'll both make commander at a decent age if they keep on their current professional tracks."

Joe nodded as Sammy relayed what she knew of the Coulsons. He was a big believer in traditions and in the next generation picking up where their forebears left off...except when it came to him. He couldn't fill his dad's shoes on his best day and he accepted that. Joe's focus was on not shaming his father any more than he already had.

"By the way, Fury, don't get killed. I'm not up for explaining it to your old man. Besides, I'd miss you or something. Guess that whole growing-up-together-thing. Now I just have to convince Peggy to not join SHIELD and we're in good shape. Someone in my family needs a normal job and lifestyle." Joe said, sighing.

"You ready for this?"

"You be ready in case I need to drag you with me so you don't get killed. I don't want to tell YOUR old man about it. And leave Peggy alone. She'll find where she fits in best."

"Am I ready? It was my team had caught most of them a few years ago. We just didn't get them all. It was New York, way too many people in the way. But we were trying to capture, not exterminate. I'd say I'm ready for a rematch in a remote location where SHIELD walks in and Hydra doesn't walk out."

"Now that's a sentiment I can get behind. Hydra is a cancer that needs to be cut out for good. Let's make it happen."
