Attack on Xavier's ((Open to All X-ers on Campus))

Class had only been in session for a couple days at Xavier's. Labor Day had come and gone. There were more students on campus than in previous semesters. The buzz from first day jitters had settled down. Routines were starting to be picked up. It was currently the small span of time between the end of classes for the day and the beginning of after-school activities.

A mile from the main house, a very determined man wearing purple and dark blue was setting up. He took note of various things like the range to the target, wind direction, wind velocity, air density, elevation, and the Coriolis effect. As well as the effect the window he was going to shoot through would have on his very special bullet. He peered through his scope. This would be an extremely tricky shot, but the entire operation was waiting on him to start it. He needed to take out the biggest problem on that campus. The new construction getting into his way didn't help matters.

He eventually lined up a clear shot and waited. He caught a flash of red in the window. The target must have been sitting at her desk. The sniper grinned slightly to himself. He took in a breath, let it half out, and then squeezed the trigger.
The one-of-a-kind bullet made of non-magnetic material blasted out of the barrel of the sniper rifle. His aim was dead on. He quickly tapped the signal to have the first ones launch their attack.

The walls along Graymalkin Lane were breached explosively in multiple places. Most near security nodes to delay the time the security system roused. Men and women in black tabards with white crosses poured through the openings. They ran toward the buildings and any visible muties on the grounds. They all had been itching for some action since the debacle at Veridian Dynamics. Being underground for this long made the need for mutie blood strong among the Purifiers.

Getting to the library would be a very difficult task. Purifiers got onto the campus and spread out quickly. They mobilized like they had been training for this for awhile.

There were several between Ilya and the end point he was aiming for. One noticed the running teenager and shouted a warning to his fellow Purifiers as he raised his gun to shoot the boy.

He's probably going to regret this later, but he can't think, he can barely breathe, people are going to get hurt and he has to help and it's all a flood of adrenaline. He can hear his heart pound in his ears as he locks his gaze on the one with the gun.

Throwing the guy down the hallway and into his comrades with enough force to send them both skidding on the floor is sloppy, but actually, if they'd hit the wall, they'd be a lot worse off for it. Ilya's got no idea how much force he's putting into his telekinesis, and the instability is a tribute to how little training he's had. He's got one real ability that works in combat and no plan, and in a way, that makes him more dangerous than if he knew what he was doing - cornered animal dangerous.

There was a tangle of a pair of Purifiers in the middle of the hallway. More were pouring into the confined corridor. These weren't waiting to aim and kill. They sprayed bullets down the hallway to shoot the mutie kid tossing their armored compatriots like ragdolls.

Chunks of the hall are ripped out and thrown, taking most of the bullets, other chunks hurtling along faster, all slamming forward with no regard for aim as Ilya looks around. The only way out is to shove himself through a hole in the wall, all the the while feeling reason slip away from him, panic coursing through him as he finds himself in another room, preemptively grabbing ahold of things to use to throw with telekinesis, a sort of choked feeling gripping him.

He never saw combat in Chukotka. His training at the Institute has been minimal and nonviolent. Ilya doesn't identify the sweat beading on his forehead as fear, but he knows he should be doing something instead of hiding.

His powerset could be very, very good at killing people. And that means he's looking at the furniture he's holding with his mind with frightened eyes. Don't make me kill you, he projects out, with what feeble telepathy he has. I don't want to do this!

But he will, if he has to. Because 1940's Chukchi morals demanded no less in defending those that have taken him in. And to be quite frank, this is really the last place to hide he has before they leave him no choice in the matter.

The Purifiers were not going to take his warning. Ilya was a mutie, and all muties had to die. That was their holy mission.

A pair of grenades get lobbed through the hole in the wall. They were canister shaped and would start spewing out tear gas.

This is one of the times where Ilya being from the past is going to cost him dearly. He slams chunks of the wall into the canisters, which if they were grenades would diffuse most of the power of the explosion and keep it in one area. Gas grenades, which were not in use during his era, just release all their gas, and he brings down a piece of the ceiling onto them in a really impulsive attempt to contain it.

This means the entire ceiling is now cracked and structurally unsound, but his healing factor keeps him from being incapacitated; he can still see clearly enough through the tears and breathes fine. It's the panic that's pushing him into 'kill or be killed' mode.

A thought flutters through his head like a butterfly: if he could survive a train crash, he could survive bringing a room down on anyone who came in.

The Purifiers, brain trusts that they were, didn't have any gas masks on them.

They couldn't go into the room.

But they could start shooting through the hole in the wall.
