[Godstorm] Riding Out the Storm
The Godstorm came at New York City, gathering other storms nearby to it. It wanted power Thor's little hammer couldn't easily undo. The Godstorm had underestimated the god once. If he showed up again, he would be ready. His reach was expansive. All along the Atlantic Coast, they felt his raging wrath. Even glancing touches from his circulating clouds brought damage.
There was warning he was coming, but Godstorm cared not one whit. He want right toward the harbor, using its funneling effect and the high tides from the moon to shove torrents of water into the megalopolis. He pushed on shore, making his way inland.
He was looking for something. Not that the small people trying to survive the hurricane coming ashore knew that. Their survival was not even a concern. He just pushed on land and spread his reach. He pushed his storm inland and the requisite flooding came with it. The winds howled and shards of glass broke off skyscrapers and added sharp damage to the mayhem.

He headed down the streets, directing people to safety where he could while he looked around for any other heroes he knew. They'd be out in force today and he wanted to help wherever possible.

She would always spot him easily.
Warbird darted down, after her latest save, coming down alongside Joe. She was floating horizontally, trying to avoid the torrent of water as much as possible.
"Surprise waterpark," she said glibly. "And me without one of those costumes that's essentially a glorified bathing suit. Seems a pity, doesn't it?"

She was also the center of his world, though he hadn't told her that. There were a lot of things he hadn't told her, things he needed to tell her. But now wasn't the time.
"Ford Avenue has a lot of buildings with basement levels. Want to help me sweep those and make sure no one got trapped?"

She reached out for a moment and gently stroked his cheek. She could be glib about everything in the world, she could be flippant as hell, but when it came to him...
It was very serious.
"This sounds like my kind of date."

They arrived and found several people waving at them from the second floor. The water in this area was getting deeper, but it hadn't risen enough to cause an issue.
Yet.
But there were more people in the building than he could ask Roxie to fly out, especially only two at a time.
"Okay, Warbird. Do you think the Avengers have a spare jet lying around we can borrow?" he asked.

She knew that Carol wouldn't mind.
"Know how to fly one?" Given that Roxie had only ever cared to fly under her own power, it was something that she had never actually bothered to learn.
no subject
"But today is as good a time to learn as any. How fast can we get it here?"
