(Immediately After the Kidnapping)

Kristoff arrived precisely on time for his sister's next lesson, being careful not to trigger any Avengers security protocols as he waited in the appropriate point and rang the doorbell.

Jay had slipped out of the kitchen to let Kitty break the news to Vincent. He would rather not see either the rage or sadness that came with it. He was on his way to tell Jarvis to hide all the liquor in the mansion when there was someone at the door.

Since it wasn't far, Jay walked over and opened the door. He attempted his best Lurch. "You raaang?

Ooh. This was problematic. Though hopefully with this one being more Doom-like, he wouldn't lose his backbone like Vincent had been recently. Jay expected cold, precise vengeance speech from Kristoff. Though sometimes his expectations were off.

He cleared his throat. "There might be a problem with that. Please come in. So we don't have a scene on the street..."

Jay stepped out of the way to let the smaller man inside the building.

"Nooo, not Vincent for once." Jay closed the door behind Kristoff. He pressed his massive fingertips together to figure out how to phrase this. So, he did an info dump. Right there. On the entry hall floor.

"And you can't really be taking her home because Loki showed up and kidnapped her. I tried to stop him, but one surprised Hulk doesn't quite cut it against a mostly prepared Norse god of trickery."

"I think Asgard. We gotta check the security footage of when he grabbed her. If he didn't mess with it. As for why, who ever knows what's going on with a trickster?" He shrugged his big shoulders.

"Now if it was Coyote, I could have a better sense. But Asgard is Greek to me."

He glanced over his shoulder to make sure Roxstar was not coming in to kick his butt for that.

Vincent raises a hand to ask Miss Pryde to please wait while he answers his phone. "Vincent Amorason speaking."
vincent_amora: (NO!)

"Wh-" Vincent hesitates for the length of a blink, before he expands his mystical senses. Audhild was not in the Mansion.

She was not outside it.

"Do not move." He says to Kristoff, as he hangs up the phone, giving a betrayed look to Pryde before he teleports to his... to Kristoff, whatever he is. He does his best to draw himself up, even if he still has to tilt his head to meet the older man's gaze. "We will find Audhild, and I will not make the mistake of leaving her in the care of the Avengers again. That discussion is shelved. What do we know of her disappearance?"

"I have no trouble believing that you do." Vincent replies, being businesslike enough not to bring up that he knows that.

His face twists as he contemplates what Loki's involvement means. He finally looks to Jay. "Let Iron Man and the others know that I'll be stopping by the Latverian consulate. Once I assess what is there, I'll return here for any other supplies and to confer with anyone I can use their assistance. My sister is being brought home."

Wherever that may turn out to be.

"Mm." Vincent grunts in acknowledgment as he looks over the various items of arcana available to him. "Dimensional navigation may be the one area in which my experience already surpasses my fa-- your master's." He says, without bragging or uncertainty. He certainly could have left this Earth anytime he wished, save for the life he had built here.

What was left of it.

"My emotional bond with Audhild is not yet as firm as I would like, but our shared genetics and divine.. 'spark', the Odinforce as I understand it is known in Asgard, would be more alike each other than any other beings alive. It is a good place to start." Vincent seems detached, all the rage and stress of recent, and present, events seeming to have put carefully to one side. A casual observer would have a hard time discerning if he's simply broken at this point or fully invested in the task at hand.

He begins scribbling runic notations on the floor, occasionally peppered with human advanced mathematical equations.

"We're going to be using myself, and a few of her personal affects I'll retrieve, as focii for a tracking spell. I'll have to rely on you for the verbal components of the final spell trigger, but I should be able to put the energies in motion."

He furrows his brow and then scratches out a notation to replace an earlier one. "My primary concern is getting a lock on her with the first attempt, no matter what countermeasures Loki may have in place. If I spook him, he'll really be trying to shake tracking efforts."

He lifts his head and sighs, pushing his hair back. "Unless the kidnapping isn't the means in itself here, and is just bait... for any number of individuals." He locks his jaw, frustration returning.

Vincent grunts and revises another equation, before inspecting a conspicuously red candle. "Mother always did take pride in the enemies she garnered... I can't imagine this version of her being much different."

He pauses, then gives Kristoff an unusually sympathetic look, before turning back to his work. "However complicated matters between them might be, I always tell Audhild how lucky she is to still have a mother who loves her."

Vincent crushes a piece of chalk between his fingers, and fetches a new one.

"Father and Thor... disagreed, regarding her, myself, and my brother. Half-brother, that is. Balder.

There was an accident."

"Thank you. Mine to you as well.

Are you most comfortable with Norwegian, Old Norse, or Latin? There's some flexibility within the spell, and I want to make sure the verbal components are as accurate as possible." Vincent continues on, because talking about Mother still hurts still focused on the spell construction.

"I'll need you to burn four candles halfway down, placed in the cardinal directions. Leave one still burning, and place a dish of water and a piece of iron ore, unprocessed, at two of the remaining three directions. I'll fetch the personal affects I need to attune the spell to Audhild from our home." He says with perhaps a bit more emphasis than necessary, as he finishes an equation surrounded by a spell notation and stands up again.

Vincent returns a short while later with a pair of Audhild's pajamas, some hair taken from her brush, and her favorite drinking glass. He orients them with the points for the cardinal directions and elemental materials, exhaling heavily over one point to provide 'air'. He goes over the verbal components, establishing what signals he'll give Kristoff to enact them at what times, and finally gingerly steps into the circle. He takes his wallet from his pocket and produces a small photo of Audhild, holding it in cupped hands as he seats himself.

"I am ready to find m--" he pauses, taking a breath, and altering his choice of words, even as he avoids Kristoff's gaze. "--to find our sister, Dr Vernard."

And yet, he wavers, not yet giving Kristoff the signal, as his earlier concerns about tipping their hand to Loki come back to him.

What if I fail?

A years-old flinch briefly rushes through his muscles.

He's jarred back to his senses. There is simply not time for self-doubt.

Vincent gives his brother Kristoff a hand signal and turns his focus inwards. He lets his awareness fall upon his memories of his sister, and his awareness of that which lies at the core of himself. The unmistakable presence of that which is not mortal. The spark that speaks of his Asgardian blood. The Odinforce.

That particular combination of Amora and von Doom which only exists in one other being in this reality.

If all his calculations and spellwork test true, like will attract like.

And Audhild?

She is thinking very loudly in Vincent's direction. They are in a cold place and it looks like they will be approaching the Golden City itself. She tries her best to send that image to Vincent.

It hits him like a splash of cold water, and he sends back a clear and emphasized message.

He is coming to take her home.

Vincent opens up a comm channel to Avengers Mansion, and layers a spell on top of it to reach anyone there who might not be listening to a speaker.

"Loki has my sister and he's taking her to Asgard. I am going there. Anyone hearing this can either help or stay out of my way. I'll be returning to the mansion shortly to collect any volunteers."

He rises from the center of the spellwork and nods sharply to Kristoff. "There's no time to lose."
