"Aye, and fictional characters as well." Dolemeck pointed out, leaning up against the side of the sofa. "And not much, Kayla, luv. Just trying to stay clear of any e-mails or phone calls. The usual."
He then made a somewhat sly face as he looked over at Kayla.
"Do we dare tell her about slash and femships as well? Or should we just let nature take it's course?"
"I don't mind it when it's fictional characters." Kayla had a few of those herself though she wasn't much of a writer, so thus far, she'd restricted herself to reading them. She paused for a moment. "But when it's real people, it's just creepy as shit. And potential lawsuit material."
"But creepy shipfics aside, things are good, yeah? It's nice to have some positive attention for a change." Though she wondered how long that would last. News cycles and narratives were often slippery.
"That's why we've got to build on it right now. While things are good, because someone is going to fuck up. Someone always fucks up. The key is to make the house strong enough to stand through the shitstorm." Kayla finished her purloined muffin.
"And who knows, maybe we'll get to do it by punching some bad guys. I probably shouldn't like that ..." But there was no telling Kayla that superheroics was some sort of grim obligation. It was up pretty high on the list of Awesome Life Experiences.
"I got me a whole list of people for you to punch, Rose. You can start with my Da if you want." Dolemeck grinned. He certainly was not showing any love loss there.
"But aye, might as well enjoy the good times for as long as we got them." He gave a nod of his head, just as the Englishmen realized something. "Also, the good press might help other mutants to come to the school who need it, too. Mutants who were too afraid to come out before."
"Our punching services are acquired as a team." Kayla clarified with a knowing nod.
"I can feel Professor Grey-Ramsey's blood pressure rising from here. But new recruits- I mean, students. That'll be exciting." Though of course, it could also bring on a whole new bunch of students.

"I am just worried that someone will bloody fuck this up, and we are back to square one."

That was still a sore spot for him, and he did his best to try and smile to hide it. He then switch to what Rose was saying.
"We can always drive Professor McCoy nuts. I heard he can turn purple when angry!"
