Going "Home" Again

Sean had never been crazy about planes. Then again he'd never been crazy about heights period. He probably would have driven if it were more practical. Frankly he was glad to finally be on solid ground again. He had to admit he had some butterflies in his stomach after being gone for so long from the institute. Not the X-Man part, that had to be done as far as he was concerned. The part about seeing all the familiar faces he hadn't seen in..sheesh, how many years had it been? Eh, no point in ruminating. He made his way, trying not to get impatient at the disembarking line.

Rose rolled her eyes exaggeratedly. "...Really, Feathers? Ain't ya worried about Professor Red findin' out?"

Considering his own actions growing up at the school, he really had no place to weigh in on this.

"I'll keep that in mind," he said, trying to keep neutral.

"She probably already knows, and really, I was careful, it's not a sheet of ice so no one is going to slip on it." She grinned. I save pranks like that for people I don't like or people I know won't really get hurt if they fall."

"Your funeral, Feathers," Rose said. "Anything interesting happen while I was out?"

"Pranks with powers? I see not much has changed around here," he joked.

"Oh please I'm not going to get killed." She smirked at Rose. "Besides, a little water's not going to hurt anyone."

"So, Sean, what's yours? I mean you see the feathers, and well know about the ice now. Or that some top secret thing?"

Rose grinned a little. "Yer trouble after my own heart, Feathers."

"Heh, no real secret about it, Bobbi. My folks are Warpath and Siryn from back on X-Force. My powers are a little similar to there's, but different. I'm not superhuman, but I'm naturally in peak physical shape. Like Mom and Grandpa I have a sonic scream, albeit it's not as versatile as theirs are, but as pure concussive force it's stronger than either of them. Can't really demonstrate in here..took out a wall once that way."

"Of course I am Rose. You'd hate it if I was boring and dull." She grinned. "Though our room wouldn't be half cutesy with all my penguins."

"Okay yeah, I don't think that would be as fun as a blizzard in the lobby. Though remind me not to get into a yelling match with you at any time. I mean not that I do that, usually it's others yelling at me as I'm darting away because of something. Almost wishing that I was a bit faster though. These wings are made for falling with style, not actually flying."

Rose winced visibly at the memory the explanation of Sean's powers brought on.

"Even with a healing factor, I was deaf for hours after that. Ground zero plus sonic scream plus super-hearing..."

She frowned quickly. There definitely hadn't been any untoward context in that. Had there?

Sean visibly winced a bit.

"Yeah..I had to write "I'm sorry" on a piece of paper."

Bobbi caught the winces and quirked a brow.

"Probably best if I don't pry further right?"

"...Yeah, just pretend I didn't say any of that, Feathers."

She turned her eye back to Sean. "Fortunately, I'm the forgivin' type."

Yeah..that could have been an awkward conversation. The latter statement made him grin.

"Oh yeah, real forgiving. This coming from the woman who chased me for six hours straight."

"She chased you for six hours? Now I feel out of shape, I don't think I could run for two hours straight. Play soccer that long, sure."

Rose snickered at that. "Well, it wasn't 6 hours of straight running. Had to go pretty slow following the scent sometimes."

"Yeah, it wasn't always running. There were multiple lull periods. I hid in a lake using a reed to breathe for awhile. I hiding a perfume shop for a time before the owner threw me out for loitering. I even took a cab to just drive me around town."

Bobbi was snickering as she walked with them. "Okay, that's actually pretty smart." She grinned.

"He gets one now and then," Rose agreed. "About every six months or so."

Sean winced in an exaggerated manner, putting his hand on his heart.

"Ouch. Now that's just hurtful, Rose."

Bobbi giggled at that.

"Okay I have a feeling I should go on ahead."

"You do that, Feathers," Rose said, trying to hide a grin. "Irish and I need ta... discuss this."

Sean did his best to maintain a facade of stoicism at that.

"Nice meeting you, Bobbi."

Yeah, no one was buying that, Sean.

"She's a good kid," Rose said, after Bobbi had headed off. "Had a lot of upsets in her life, but come out smiling."

He nodded. "She seems it." He thought a moment. "She also seems really familiar. Do we know her folks?"
