Going "Home" Again

Sean had never been crazy about planes. Then again he'd never been crazy about heights period. He probably would have driven if it were more practical. Frankly he was glad to finally be on solid ground again. He had to admit he had some butterflies in his stomach after being gone for so long from the institute. Not the X-Man part, that had to be done as far as he was concerned. The part about seeing all the familiar faces he hadn't seen in..sheesh, how many years had it been? Eh, no point in ruminating. He made his way, trying not to get impatient at the disembarking line.

He held back a laugh. "I need an adult!"

Rose laughed as she got out some of the ingredients she needed. "Ya are an adult, Irish."

She was able to keep a straight face for about three seconds before breaking into guffaws.

"Almost believed that for a second."

"Better check into the burn ward there, Sean." Kayla grinned and went over to Rose to give her a high-five. "Nice one."

"There's a bunch of leftover grated cheese in the fridge and some ham too. Please eat it, because it's going to be pitched soon."

"I've spent so much time in the burn war I'm practically an institution," he said with good grace. "Ooo, meat and cheese, classics." He proceeded to head for the fridge.

Rose returned the high five with a grin. "I've had plenty of practice."

"Save some of that for cooking with," she told Sean. "We got any onions or peppers, Shake 'n' Bake?"

"Onions? Peppers? We've got a virtual galaxy of fresh produce in the second fridge over there. That fridge is pretty much a giant-ass crisper. Try to use stuff that's already been opened, though. Hana gets at me if I have too many things opened at a time." Kayla grinned slightly. "You don't want Hana after you. She seems super nice, but she's serious about this kitchen."

"Don't worry, Rose. I have self-control where it matters," he assured her, head in the fridge.

"Is Hana one of the Institute cooks?"

"Hana's one of Longshot and Dazzler's kids," Rose explained, as she got out the rest of her ingredients.

"Raised by ninjas. But less of a space case than her brother."
