"You treat de symptoms before you find de actual cause. Guess it's jus' my luck." Alisa muttered to herself. After everything that had gone on in her life, the crazy ups and downs, the quick emotions that overtook her, the in able to not say things that should not be said... the young woman decided it was time for a second opinion. And now, well, things made sense.

She was not a total bitch or a moron, she had brain damage before she took that bullet to her skull. Probably from the explosion she was in with Alistaire Shaw, but it could have been a number of things. Enforcers can take a lot of blows to the head, after-all.

This entire time, everyone assumed her powers going bonkers were the cause of her odd behavior. Behavior that drove away friends, family, and destroyed relationships with a blast of napalm. So her powers and emotions were being treated. Not her brain.

Now that she was in the RIGHT hands, she was getting proper treatment. Medicine to help with headaches, her neuro implants calibrated to help combat the damage and prevent her from doing... everything she had been doing for over the past six months.

She had yet to tell anyone about this, as it was a private matter. Besides, how do you explain to all the people you hurt that it was completely involuntary? No one would believe it, and it was best to leave it alone. Instead, she took some leave from working with Alistaire and Reiko. She also took time off from working as a mercenary.

For now, she was by a statue of "Alice in Wonderland" at Central Park. Sketching away and doing her best to not stand out in the crowd. It felt good to be at some peace, and to not be the center of attention. No, the center of Chaos.

"That sounds considerably more than minor side effects," Millicent pointed out. She thought about what Alisa said.

"That depends. ..Do you feel the same towards me now as you did then?" She asked quietly.

"I sometimes forget that what is "minor" for me, is not minor to others." She tried to smile, before giving Millicent the answer she sought.

"Oui, I feel de same way about you as when I was a mess. I like you very much, enough to even tell you all of this before I tell my boss."

Millicent smiled, taking Alisa's hand in hers. "Then unless such time proves that our personalities are not compatible, I do not intend to go anywhere."

"Dat's kind of refreshin' to hear." She was taken back a bit after Millicent's words. Her hand gave Milli's a gentle squeeze, her sketching having come to a complete stop.

"So... we've been going on dates for what? Six months, now?"

"Just about," Millicent confirmed. "Longest period where I've done so in a long time."

"Dis is de longest relationship I have ever been in, period." Alisa admitted. "I mean, it has been a bit chaste, and a slow relationship... but I prefer it dat way. I don' wanna move too fast or screw anyt'ing up."

Millicent reddened slightly. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about those things, but I know meaningful things are never gained quickly."

"I am very appreciative dat you have agreed to go slowly wit' dis relationship." She smiled a bit more. "It has been quite meaningful, an' well... deep. An' while I do want more as well, I want to be careful at de same time. 'cause you are special to me."

Millicent lowered her a head a bit, almost shyly at Alisa's words.

"That means a great deal actually." She smiled a bit. "I promise to be patient, but I cannot promise not to fantasize about a proper snog or shag."

"You lil' minx." Alisa smirked, giving Milli a quick kiss on the cheek. "Very well, just try not to use up all de cold water in de City. Some o' us need dat for drinks, you know."

It was hard not to giggle. This all felt right, again. Not upside down, sideways, or like some other dimension. Her life finally felt right for once.

"You know, I got invited to some photo exhibit. "New Orleans Past and Present". I'm still debatin' on if I should go or not."

"Please, if anyone knows how to conserve resources, it is me. Remind me to tell you how I survived in a desert."

Millicent couldn't stay serious, chuckling a bit as well. She knew her father would likely be furious when he found out she was dating a woman, but Millicent hadn't felt this content in a long time.

"Oh? Perhaps they want to exhibit some of your pieces."

"Sadly, no. Dis exhibit is strictly photography, a medium I don' dabble in." Alisa's hand went back to her sketching.

"Besides, wit' all de chaos I created an' caused in dis city, I was lucky to be invited at all. Usually I get snubbed because people worry what would come outta my mouth, or I'll go on some rampage."

Millicent, already a cautious person to begin with, became even more so upon hearing that.

"Then why the sudden olive branch?"

"Probably because dey need some token Cajun for de event." There was a slight shrug of her shoulders.

"Or maybe dey expectin' me to go all "Carrie" at de event for press? Dat would be worst case scenario, t'ough. I honestly don' know, Millicent. What I do know is, is dat I need to get out an' start bein' social again. Stayin' couped up or workin' all de time ain' good for me."

"Love, you are not "token" anything," Millicent assured.

"Well I certainly understand that. Just in my nature to be overly cautious is all."

"Do not be too worried, chere. I will be fine." She placed her sketches and pencils away in a case that was at her side.

"I will just go, try to be fashionable but not stand out, and just look at some pictures from de past. I will den go home an' give you a call to let you know I am alright."

"You say "don't worry" but I'm just wired that way, Alisa. However I will do my best to turn it down a bit," Millicent conceded.

"I am askin' for you to jus' turn it down a lil' . Not be carefree an' like some hippie." She could not help but chuckle.

"Would it make you feel better if I go to your place instead o' mine when de event is over? Dis way you can see I am alright, an' dat you worried your cute lil' head off for nuthin' ."

Millicent bit back a "I'm not cute" retort. "Yes, actually it would."

"We're going to 'ave dis tiff, again? You need to face de fact you can be cute." Alisa did concede one thing, however.

"Alright. When I am done wit' de photography exhibit, I will head immediately to your place to show you I am alive an' well. Jus' so it would make you feel better. Don' need you gettin' gray hairs before your time, now."

Millicent gave a little "hmph", but didn't argue.

"I appreciate the consideration," she teased. "Good, I'll make us something to eat."

"An' I guess I will bring my sleep shirt. It'll be late by de time I get to your place, an' it would be troublesome to make my way back to my apartment at such an hour." This was logical to Alisa. Hell's Kitchen was no place for a lady at such an hour at night, even if she could handle herself.

"Dat is, if you don' mind me crashin' on de couch until de mornin' , dat is."

"Makes sense to me."

Millicent shook her head. "You'll take the bed, I'll sleep on the couch."
