A battle on two fronts

As soon as Vincent is about to arrive to collect anyone willing to go with him on the rescue mission to Asgard things start to go very wrong. There is suddenly snow pouring down from the sky in Times Square and reports of Frost Giants coming out to attack different parts of the city. The Avengers are going to have to decide what they are going to do really fast.

Bruce was on his way to the war room, clothing transmuting into his costume in a flash of energy. Time enough to run into Ms. Pryde.

"This as bad as the news feeds are making it sound?"

Jay headed toward the war room with thundering footsteps. He was half-dressed in his uniform. The young Hulk was pulling it on as he went.

"Beep beep. Comin' through." That was about all the warning he gave as he moved. He was distracted by making sure his uniform was on straight.

Space rips open in the middle of the war room as people arrive. Vincent steps through, leaving it open for Kristoff as well. He's heavily armored, by his standards, making adjustments to a pair of weaponized gauntlets that seem to have runes forged into them as well.

"Loki has my sister in Asgard. I'll take as much help as I can get in educating him why this was his worst possible decision since the business with the stallion."

"Vincent," Kristoff says as he comes through. "One does not simply tear the fabric of time and waltz into someone's territory. Well, obviously some people do, but there are St -- also, we need to deal with what is going on in the city as well, it could be related to what has happened to her."

"We all want to get her back, Vincent," Bruce said, "but the fact of the matter is, we also have to contain what's going on here. The X-Men and Future Foundation are offering their support, but it's not going to be enough."

He went on. "Asgard is your territory, however. We're going to need you to have a level head in dealing with all of this."

"Um. Yeah. Still new to all of this but..." She purses her lips. "It's snowing. I know it's winter but we were supposed to have clear skies for like two more weeks... Should we be expecting magical shenanigans on top of everything else?"

What? It's a good question to ask.

Kitty was disappointed to see Vincent had had no success in getting his sister back. "We have other problems now, too. Frost Giants are attacking the city and it's suddenly the dead of winter." She was of the mind that Vincent's sister being taken and the Frost Giants were connected, but she had no proof at the moment. "I have satellites and CCTV feeds working over time to keep abreast of the weather patterns and anything going on on the ground. Everything just hit, but we gotta get out there soon to contain this." She nodded at Erin. "Pretty much anything is possible out there."

Jay scratched the side of his nose with one massive finger. He was almost tempted to pick it, but then he'd have to consider where to put the booger. Instead, he lowered his hand and crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"When do we go smack the giants?" Because all this talking wasn't holding his attention.

"We should get cracking, then." Marcus suggested as he joined them. He hadn't heard the whole briefing, but the words attacking the city got his attention right away. It sounded like an urgent matter that needed seeing to.

Bruce took in a deep breath. He needed to delegate some responsibility here, needed to split the team, needed to do... a hell of a lot.

"Okay. First priority is the Frost Giants. And I think, Erin, you're going to be our best chance here. Frost Giants rely on cold to maintain their size, which, with this winter thing, isn't hard to come by. But if you can create isolated pockets of boiling water around them, make the snow heat up, anything, we can take some of them down.

"Kitty, I'll need you to coordinate efforts with the X-Men, the Future Foundation, and anyone else getting involved in this mess. See if you can get a hold of Roxie and Nicky. We'll need their power, one way or the other. If you can raise Sarah or Susan, have them concentrate on civilian rescue.

"Vincent, if you can get to Asgard, good. But if you're going to do it, it has to be now. Because we have to focus our efforts here, in the city, and I'm not sure who we can spare to back you up."

"Yeah I mean it's in the middle of January. In New York. It's cold anyways. The snow though..."

She frowns. "I don't think I can heat it up. I can change it's shape and move it though? I've never done something like that."

Wait. She moves water molecules. She can even in the right conditions create water. This is still going to be hard. She bites her lip looking nervous. " I'll do my best. Just.... be ready to back me up. I'll probably get the worst migraine ever once I'm done. I'll be a sitting target after that."

"The X-Men and the Future Foundation are waiting on my word." And while she was at that, she sent both groups the data she was pulling up via CCTV and satellite feeds.

She typed in a prompt and a message to be delivered vocally to Roxie, Nicky, Sarah, and Susan. You are being summoned to the War Room immediately.

Vincent bit his lip, even as he twisted inside at the mention of Roxanne again, as he looked around the room, and confirmed the reports of Frost Giants attacking.

A single thought welled up regarding rescuing Audhild, and it sickened him.

"I cannot do this alone...

If we can dispose of the Frost Giants, will you help me save Audhild then?"

Roxie responded to the message immediately, pulling Nicky along in her wake. She brushed back a lock of brunette hair, a red glow emanating from her body as her street clothes turned to the Grecian-style armour she had taken to wearing.

"I'm pretty sure all hands will be on deck to save her," she said, speaking to him for perhaps the first time since their break-up.

Nicky nodded his assent to Roxie's words. "The Frost Giants should be tricky - there certainly will be no negotiating with them - but we're here for you, Amorason."

"Of course, man," Bruce said. "We're a team."

He pinched the bridge of his nose, then pulled up his mask. "Okay, here's the plan. Erin's our key here. She hits them with whatever direct water-heat she can. We hit them with what we can, plus whatever else we can dish out, Nicky and Jay form the follow-up hammer. Susan and Sara are on civilian protection. Marcus, you're in charge of protecting Erin out there. Roxie and I stay on airborne harassment where we can. Vincent, mid-range support and spells."

He looked over his teammates. "The X-Men and the FF are going to be out there too. We're not alone. But that doesn't diminish what we have to do here. Support each other, call for help if you need it, and hit these guys hard. It's not for nothing these guys are the enemies of the Asgardians."

A nod. "Let's go."

Jay clapped his large hands together gleefully. "I get to do some giiiiant tossing!"

He paused. "Just gotta watch out for the tin can man on a flying horse. Aether would look so sad under a giant's butt."
