He reached out to take her hand. The last thing he needed right now is her to flee away from him.

"Mo pa comprend ou." He closed his eyes for a moment and shook his head. "I... uh, did this all on my own."

"Well, yeah, you fell all on your own, but I caused the surprised that lead to it." He caught her hand before she could escape his presence and she didn't try to pull away. Yet.

"I should come with a warning label, huh?"

"I don't think the warning label I'd make for you should be read by other men," he answered with a slight smile. Then he swallowed. He gave her hand a gentle squeeze.

"I... I'm sorry my reaction's not... it's not what you deserve. I'm just... I've never..." He winced. He wasn't finding the right words.

"I know. You're not from here, this isn't your thing, and I keep knocking you off guard...this time, literally."

She waved her free hand dismissively and attempted (badly) to play it all off. Just smooth it over, come up with a reason to need to disappear for a few hours to shake it all of, act like it never happened...and hope the puffy eyes from cryface would be at a minimum.

"I'll work on keeping things to a minimum. Especially now that you've actually fallen down. Are you sure you're okay? You're wincing."

"It has nothing to do with where I'm from. It's more what I am. I've never... I'm not..."

He licked his lips. Words weren't this hard with anyone else. Why the hell could he not find the right thing to say to Alexa?

"I'm wincing because I'm ruining this. I've never even tried to be in a relationship before. I default to sex because it's what I know. I never found anyone who could keep me from wandering away to someone else until you." He took a deep breath and hard time making his next words above a whisper. "And you love me."

"Yes. I do love you. It surprised me, too."

She did it again! This time he managed to take it with less color change in his face. He tried to carefully get off the floor without knocking Alexa over or letting go of her hand.

"Then let's just say I took the fall of surprise for the both of us."
