So, um...Dad. (open to Stark-ish family and Remi)

The test results weren't changing. The little parasitical organism growing inside Alexa wasn't going away. The hormones were getting worse, as evidenced by Alexa's keen strategy of kicking Remi in the nuts to rescue him from a really bad situation. She had also noticed a slight...bump going on where her stomach was and guessing by Remi's near inability to look up from her chest these days she was pretty sure that her stomach wasn't the only thing that had swollen.

There was no denying it now. Alexa was with Atlantean spawn. Do they make booties for wingy feet?

"Remi?" she peeked in at him. He'd been having a lot of Tank Time since the whole ball-kicking incident.

Oh God, he did not want to know anything about the birthing process. At all. Ever. He closed his eyes a second and reopened them, giving a calm nod. Calm now, killing later.

"Does your mother know?"

"Not yet. And she's probably going to kill me."

"She's good at that." It was one of her many attractive features. Bethany made Tony look like a pussycat. "Don't worry. I'm sure she'll find a way to blame me once she really thinks about it.

He turned to Remi and nodded a bit. "I suppose congratulations are in order?"

Remi smiled a bit. He was going to live a little dangerously. But this whole not being fried right away might have been making him a little cocky.

"I'd think so, if you're ready to be a grandfather."

"I happen to think you'd be a good grandfather, Dad. Someone new to teach bad things to!"

"You two are hilarious." He reached for his water glass, half wishing it was something stronger. Alexa was too old for him to have any say in her life and he wasn't entirely sure he was qualified, anyway. She'd only turned out as well as she had because he'd had so little to do with raising her.

He put his water down and turned to smile wryly at Remi. "Congratulations. Remember that I don't have to be anywhere near you to kill you if something happens to my daughter."

Remi quirked an eyebrow. "Why would you assume I would do anything worth killing for to Alexa?"

He made sure to stop himself there. He didn't know this Tony Stark that well, but he'd heard stories. Though he would have been disappointed with this whole encounter if some threat weren't leveled at the Atlantean.

"There will be no killing of anyone here. I don't want my child to be a half-orphan." Alexa shot her father a look.

"I said 'if'. As long as there are no problems, then nobody has anything to worry about." Tony smiled serenely at her. She was his only daughter. God willing, she'd be the only one he ever had. He was a little protective.

"Well, if anything happens, Alexa is more likely the bigger threat to my life than you." Which after he said was not all that comforting. He frowned slightly and went back to looking at what three entrees he wanted.

"Nothin's gonna happen. Except there'll be a baby. And it could be scary. But I think it will be okay." She looked intently at her menu and distinctly not at Remi. "I love him and we're having a baby. It's okay."

"Well, I certainly hope so. For what it's worth, I'm sure you'll do a much better job of parenting than I did," he assured Alexa, even though she was staring holes in her menu. In all honesty, he really didn't know if this was normal pregnancy behavior or if she really was acting as odd as she seemed to be. Maybe both?

"Good luck to the both of you."

Remi was slightly glad that Mr. Stark was paying more attention to his daughter than the Atlantean at the moment. He was cycling through a sudden burst of emotions at an l-bomb being lobbed in his lap. In front of her father. Where he had to school his emotions. His eyebrows were a little twitchy for a couple seconds. He softly cleared his throat when he got his face into some semblance of calm and set the menu down.

"We'll be better than fine," Remi assured calmly as he placed his arm along the back of Alexa's chair.

Alexa just kept looking at her menu. It was easier that way because if she looked up a her father she'd probably start blushing or sobbing depending on what sort of horrible trick the hormones wanted to play on her and if she looked at Remi she'd probably start sobbing or screaming again because of the hormones. She hadn't intentionally dropped the l-bomb. It had just sort of came out and now all kinds of panic rose in her throat.

This may have been a very bad time to get in touch with her feelings.

"So I'm just going to have one of everything on the left side of the menu. I'll eat most of it I'm certain. Yes."

"Well, that'll be a simple enough order to place," Tony answered cheerfully. The whole situation was weird and uncomfortable now. There was an undercurrent going on that he didn't understand and was almost positive he didn't want to.

Hormones. Yep, he was going to assume it was all hormones. Especially if she started crying. Then Remi was on his own, because there were all kinds of emergency meetings he could suddenly have to rush out for. "I believe I'll just give my cardiologist a thrill and stick with the Alfredo."

This was where foolish Atlanteans tred. Mostly because he was getting slightly more confused about how Alexa was acting. Though he was trying hard to keep his calm, placid exterior up.

"Mo pa comprend ou. Alexa, dearest, I get full from three things off the menu. I know our baby is part Atlantean, but isn't the whole left side a bit much?"

"Nope. And there will be leftovers."

Neither man had any idea just how much Alexa Stark could eat when she was nervous.

Tony had no idea. Tony also didn't want to know. He kept his nose in his menu and made sure to think carefully over his entree choice. Yep. Very carefully.

"The tiramisu sounds delicious..."

Remi glanced toward Alexa's father. He held in a sigh after seeing it was a Stark trait to hide behind a menu. It was hard enough for the Atlantean to maintain his composure after a sudden l-bomb lobbed in his lap. Though with Alexa refusing to look at either of them, Remi was getting the idea she was ashamed of feeling that way.

He pressed his lips together and withdrew his arm from the back of Alexa's chair. He tried to keep his voice calm and serene. He could freak out when he went and jumped in the Atlantic after this. "Fine. Half the menu, alfredo, tiramisu, my three entrees, and two copies of the menu for hiding behind, and some to-go boxes for leftovers. That sound about right?"

Alexa folded her menu and sat it down before folding her hands in her lap...though one found it's way to Remi's leg and she clung to him.

"I'm done with the menu, actually. I'm just working on the remembering to breathe bit now."

Oh swell. One with annoying, hormonal mood shifts and one pregnant woman. Tony guessed that was what he got for dropping the death threats. God, this lunch couldn't end soon enough.

He put his menu down and looked at them. "Would you two like me to leave you alone? There's obviously a problem of some kind and I don't know that my presence is helping any."

Remi glanced down at the hand clinging to his leg. He was glad to not be magically diminished so his strength would cover whatever Alexa could do to him.

"Well, as I have no clue what's going on, it's up to Alexa."

"This is all just...awkward and I am not handling it particularly well."

"Nobody's killing anyone. I consider that a sign of a meeting going well." Tony answered, not entirely helpfully. Hey, considering how his marriage ended, it was a valid method of measuring success in family interaction.

"No possessions. No nobody's scrotum being mangled. We're fine, Alexa." The waitress started to come close but Remi signaled for her to wait a moment or two. Once he got the nod of assent, the Atlantean turned back to his girlfriend.
