A small group of males about their own age continued approaching, and slowed down as they did, staring. It wasn't an honest, thoughtlessly inquisitive stare, either. Caroline could tell. In a mutant clan, you learned the difference. She'd bet Angel'd learned it even faster.

"Appreciate it," she said, unconsciously clenching and unclenching her fists.

"This doesn't concern you," one of them said.
"Well, ain't that cute," she says to Angel. "They think there's a 'this' that concerns them."

"Oh, we ain't looking to start nothing, either. For one thing, ~Ah wouldn't sully mah hands on trash like you."
The guys blinked. It wasn't just that the 'normal' chick's Kentucky drawl got even deeper. It was that her voice changed completely. And...were those guitars?

"Furry?" she asked, faking confusion, before looking down. "Oh, mah God! Ah'm furry! Why didn't anybody tell me?"

And the guys will start slowly, perplexedly backing off.
