New York Minute (Open like an open thing to NY)
Motorcycle's in the parking lot
Revving their engines and it just won't stop
Matches the noise screaming in my head
Houston, I think we got a problem

Mira was walking through the Central Park Zoo, there was a crowd of school kids running between the monkey cage and the elephants that caused her to dance back a few steps to avoid getting bowled over by the third graders. Sipping at the hot chocolate she had bought she headed for the tiger exhibit.
There were panicked screams from behind her, where she had passed the kids. Turning she saw several running her way. Mira thought a moment trying to remember the layout of the zoo from the map she had. Pointing she hissed reptile house to the kids as she headed the way they had come from, maybe she'd be able to figure out what was going on. No doubt someone was already texting and or calling the police right? The kids had been in uniforms, one of the ritzy schools in the city, though she hadn't been in town long enough to figure out which one.
The device on her wrist beeped, warning her someone was messing with the weapon. Mira pulled herself against a decorative wall. Did they find me already? Usually I get at least a day before the government finds me. Taking a deep breath she stepped back into the path her eyes scouting for anything she could use as a weapon as she headed for the monkey cage. It was probably stupid of her, but if the kids got hurt because she was there she'd never forgive herself.

Eyes darting to make sure that no one was watching, Jesse slid into the nearest private restroom.
Anyone watching would notice a black-and-red clad figure swooping out of the bathroom only moments later, heading towards the epicenter of the chaos.

"The thief's around here somewhere, we need that computer if we're going to get the weapon to work."
Yep, they may not be the military jerks, but they're after me. Really! Even I don't get caught this quick by the jarheads. She caught sight of the red and black figure in the corner of her eyes and mentally face palmed. And of course there'd be costumes around duh Mir, New York.
Two little kids around five, had gotten separated from their group and entered the area crying for their mothers. Mira bit her lip as the guns were aimed at the kids. Fuck. She darted from her hiding place putting herself between the kids and the gun holding her hands out. "Yeah, you guys are looking for me right? How about leave these kids alone."
This is so stupid, they're going to kill you Mira! Yeah, that inner voice, she's going to ignore it for right now. After all the whole reason she took the project was to keep it from being used against innocent people. Though right now, she was really wishing she had the under armor on under her clothes. That was a REALLY BIG gun.

Jesse had been about to swoop down and save the two kids when the strong-looking blonde did, well, that.
Jesse grimaced. This could either end spectacularly terribly, or this could go ridiculously well because the hot blonde had superpowers.
Please have superpowers?
"Honestly," he finally spoke up, emerging from the shadows. "The three of you look like you should be picking on someone with your own IQ. The monkeys, maybe?"

Though he drew their attention from Mira and the kids, which Mira took, urging the kids to hide in the brush and not come out until the scary men were gone. Wasn't something that took much coaxing at least.
While the kids went one way she sized up the men. "Oh please, you're insulting the monkeys. The tuna are more their IQ." Yeah, that drew the guns back in her direction and she eeped raising her hands. "Now see, you guys are just rude, you should wine and dine a lady first, before whipping out your guns. And really, I've seen bigger." She's hoping she was needed alive at least.

"So, you guys know the routine, right? You're after the girl, but the awesomepants hero steps in to fight you, beats you, and saves the day?" He turned to look at Mira. "No offense, you look tough, and I know a lot of misses marvel, but for the sake of quips, okay?" He turned back to the trio. "So, let's cut our losses, you guys give me your weapons, retreat with tails behind your legs, and we'll just resume our regularly scheduled GAH!" Jesse had been speaking for too long, he realized, when one of the men shot at him. Jesse leaped to the side and, frowning beneath his cowl, let loose a venom blast at the man.

Mira scrambled for the dropped gun, if she could get it maybe it would give the guy something to worry about.
The other man opened fire on Jesse, not caring if the animals got hurt. Someone get PETA on their asses already!

A venom blast would meet the man face on as soon as he came close enough.

Mira's managed to disarm her attacker, though really she's a tiny thing and really who sends tanks for pick up jobs. Though breaking away was quick. Mira kicked out as hard as she could when he lifted her up. She had been aiming for a knee...
If she wasn't trying to get her breath she might be sorry, her boots, are an extra ten pounds each.
Glancing over to where the kids had gone to hide she saw that they were still there, their jackets showing in the brush, both were crying, but neither one hurt.
The sound of sirens started coming closer. "Shit, I would have rather not had to deal with cops today."

"Hey, it's okay, the monsters are gone now."
The two kids hugged her and she stood up carefully. "Hey, thanks." Yes that one was directed at you Spider. "I know it was stupid of me to run out there without a weapon, but... Couldn't let them shoot the kids."

He reached over and patted both of the kids' shoulders. "You guys did well, staying quiet like that. You were very brave."
"I'm guessing you know why they were after you," he said, turning his attention back to Mira. "Are you going to be alright?"
no subject
Both kids clung tighter to Mira when he patted their heads, only because she was holding them.
Mira nodded. "Yes, and less you know better okay." She nodded. "Should be. I was going to try to see someone this afternoon about the situation, thought I'd have time for at least one bit of site seeing first. Always when I try to have just a little fun."

"Lizzy! Mark!" A woman was running up with two cops. Mira rolled her eyes as the kids yelled in stereo for their mother.
"Looks like I have to deal with the cops."
