So True of Aim With His Marshmallow Laser
Jay had less of his senior year in front of him than he thought. He was behind on his senior year job shadowing. Most of his fellow students on the rez had access to all the Keewazi technology businesses and labs to do theirs in. He was in New York City and had fewer options.
He knew he could have gone to the Future Foundation and gotten credit for it. However, him showing up at Pier 4 would have been a signal for Mary to prank him somehow. Rather than deal having to redo somethings due a prankster shapeshifter, Jay got some suggestions from his school for some science-based businesses in NYC that he could get credit for.
Jay currently stood outside a nondescript building housing several businesses that could fit his science job shadowing requirement. He checked the slip of paper once more to make sure he had the right address. If he had not been specifically looking for this building, he doubted he would have even noticed it.
Shrugging to himself, he headed toward the front doors. He had an appointment with one of the businesses inside. He was dressed in a light jacket over a button-down shirt, his cleanest pair of jeans, and his pair of green Chuck Taylor All Stars on his feet. Not very science-y, but comfortable to him.

He watched her squish the spider and pulled back. "I... what's going on here? And did your boobs just get bigger?"

The landscape morphed, becoming flatter. The grass disappeared, sucked into the dry, reddish dirt. There was a highway a few hundred feet away. Off in the distance, there was the sound of an engine, and an approaching cloud of dust. "May" jumped up in excitement.
"They're here! Let's go for a ride!"
She grabbed Jay's hand, to pull him down the low hill and towards the road.

... he was pulled to his feet. "Who's here?"
Jay didn't understand how anyone else would be in his safe place. And why his safe place was turning into the rez. He followed May because he wasn't sure what else could he do against a figment of his imagination.

Dr Green stood nearby, monitoring a bank of panels and controls. A faint smile quirked the corner of his mouth. He had a theory, that was proving true, that the energy released to trigger the transformation in a gamma irradiated individual who had been effected strongly enough, could be harvested directly. Harvested, and used to heal his Lenore.
The problem was, Hulks weren't known for being cooperative, especially not in the middle of a change. And that's where his old associate's lovely... and telepathic daughter came in.

He peered into the car as he came down the hill.
His friends. They had his back, right?
"What the hell, safety brain? Why would Marcus get rid of his Jeep for that... hunk... of... shit."

Outside, a smile crept across Lena's face...

"I need a higher concentration, at least for this first run. You can play with him as much as you like later, my dear."

She reached into Jay's brain, using her telekinesis this time, and gave his amygdala a little squeeze.
The car headed towards Jay, the skies darkening, and the rocks at the base of the hill growing jagged.

He didn't understand this. He was safe here. He was supposed to be safe here. There was May and Marcus...
As the car came back at him, he waved his arms frantically. The landscape around him was going Wes Craven, but Jay's attention was on the car. He knew what would happen here. He knew it. "Stop! Please!"

Dr. Green nodded with approval at the rising gamma levels.
"Whatever you're doing in there, keep it up."

The car kept heading for Jay, his friends laughing and carefree inside.
Lena started moving around Jay's brain, prodding random areas, setting off a flood of strange sensations and physiological responses. Then, she noticed a little area in his frontal cortex, behind his eyes. It seemed to be crackling with activity. She gave it a sharp twist.

Why weren't they listening to him? Why doesn't anyone listen to him? Jay felt the Hulk rise inside. He grit his teeth and hunched over to hold it back. He needed to hold it back. The Hulk couldn't help him. It only ever made things worse.
He couldn't stop the anger. He was angry at himself for being a Hulk. He was angry at his friends for not listening and not getting the hell out of there. He was angry at his parents for cursing him this way.
"Rrr." He needed to do something before rocks fell and everybody nearly died. Jay staggered on the road, kicking up dust with his feet.

The lights from the control panel and the gamma collection tubes danced across the doctor's face, accentuating the slight green tinge to his hair and skin.
"At this rate, I'll have to order more batteries to store everything he's putting out."
Then Dr. Green frowned.
"These cardiac readings are slightly anomalous..."

In Jay's mind, the car sped faster and faster, his friends' faces taking on expressions of horror and fear.

Jay sank to his knees in the road and clutched the front of his shirt to try to keep from changing.
"Get... get off the road."
no subject
Small flames licked the crumpled hood from within the engine compartment. A pool of black oil, greenish anti-freeze, and red blood spread out from the wreckage, trickling towards Jay.
no subject
"Cardiac and respiration are off the charts! Be careful, I don't want to kill him. Not when he's producing so well..."
no subject
He expected a boulder to come down onto the car. He jumped when the rocks burst forth from beneath. He tried to shout something, push some sound past him lips. All he got was a gasping sound.
He saw the spreading pool of things he'd rather not consider. He didn't want to think about it. He tried to shut his mind down, get out of this 'safe place.' Except it was too late.
He could feel the white hot anger he kept at bay rush passed the tragedy battered guards. The hand hold his shirt like it was holding him up instead ripped the clothing from his body.
"NnnooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Jay had only felt a change this primal and terrible once. His friends were dead. His fault. He didn't fight it as the Hulk took over completely.

She looked at Dr. Green.
She looked at the rapidly turning green teenager in the suddenly flimsy looking restraints.
She looked at Dr. Green.
"Toodles!"
Lena muttered a few words under her breath, then vanished in a burst of hellfire and a cloud of brimstone.

"Alert Condition Green! I repeat, Green! Get down here, heavy armor, bring all the tranq gear we have!"
He took a few steps further back.
"Now! Everyone!"

The eight-foot tall Hulk punched one fist through the side easily. Once there was a hole there, it stuck its other hand into the hole and tore the big, metal tube in two.
It bellowed from deep in its chest as it lumbered to its feet.

The Hulk roared and charged at a wall, putting its shoulder down to bust through. It bounced off the wall making a dent since it didn't put hits full strength behind the charge.
That made the Hulk angry. It charged the wall again, ready to smash through earth if that's what was necessary. No puny white man's earth was strong enough to hold a Hulk.
It burst through the wall in a shower of metal, drywall, cement, and wood.
