A Charity Gala to End Whatever Important Thing

New York City high society had been absolutely buzzing over this April's charity gala by a certain Mr. Tony Stark. It was seen as exclusive, or as exclusive as his 200 person guest list could be. Some invitations were a given, like Tony's daughter Alexa, whereas others came from what the party planners figured as the right people to make the party memorable or talked about.

The charity event was for the charitable arm of Stark Inc., Stark International. Despite being for charity, it was also seen as a good way for businesses to be seen and network.

The event was held at the Hudson in the Library and Private Park space. It would comfortably fit the people into its 2,600 Square Feet.

Carefully skirting the bar, Tony took up a position in the room with the musicians. As a general rule, he didn't particularly enjoy this sort of elbow rubbing, schmoozing. He was good at it, but he didn't have to like it.

He was on his best behavior tonight, making the rounds and drumming up funds for his latest charity venture.

Norman Osborn's entrance garnered several stares and many pictures from the paparazzi upon his arrival. They had questions, of course. How did he manage to cure Lupus? What was next for OsCorp?

All he did was smile and walk past them, not feeling inclined to engage in their inane banter or give them fuel for their idle gossip.

He entered the library and went to the bar. A drink wouldn't do anything for him but nursing a drink would make him seem human, wouldn't it?

Yes, he needed to seem human for a bit this evening.

Stella did the appropriate plus-one things: stay on Norman's arm and smile, mostly. Oh, and look pretty. She could do that.

Erin is enjoying herself a great deal. She likes the music and is letting some of the women who are old enough to be her grandmothers or dear aunts monopolize her time.

She is happily chatting away with one of them about school because the woman is actually a total sweetheart and Erin doesn't mind the questioning. The younger Avenger would like to get away for a break though.

She looks though the picture of a nice young lady in soft blue dress she had picked out. It wasn't the priciest thing in the room but Erin hadn't been going for a price tag. She wanted something understated so she wouldn't have to stand out.

Christina Frost hadn't been seen at a society event in a long time, but she hadn't forgotten how they worked. She strolled through, looking around the room to see who all was in attendance. Mercifully her mother was not, which was probably good for all involved, but also because she wouldn't have a chance to complain about Tina's custom-made yellow and silver backless ball gown.

Norman was bored with being human after ten minutes. Stella's dress was amazing but he got the distinct impression that this party needed a pick-me-up. Something to liven it up.

Like a molotov cocktail and a few grenades bit of dancing.

"Stella, would you like to dance?" he asked.

"Mr. Osborn, I would love to," she says cordially, taking his lead onto the floor. She spots a vaguely familiar figure in yellow and silver as the dance begins. "Is that Tina Frost over there? Looks like we're not the only ones who've taken a new turn in our lives; she's been out of this scene a while."

Norman looks over and, sure enough, Christina Frost is entering the room in a very nice gown.

"We haven't seen her since Italy, right? Was she seeing someone back then? Stan? Or was it Sven?" Norman asked. He was bad with the names of unimportant people.

He twirled Stella once as the music picked up and smiled.

"Would you like to go and catch up with her?"

"Jake, Sir," she reminds as she's gracefully whirled. "I doubt it lasted, and I certainly don't see him here. I'd be happy to." She's enjoying the moment on the floor and in his arms, though.

Tina didn't readily notice Stella or Norman, though an acquantaince of her mother's stopped and said hello. Tina managed to maintain politeness.

Norman smiled at Stella and slowly guided her over to Tina. When they finally appeared in front of her, Norman stopped to regard her.

"Christina Frost, is that you?" he asked.

Frost? Erin picks that up as she tries breaking away from a conversation. Huh. Good to know one of the Frosts is in New York. If her Mother taught her anything it was to at least learn names.

She doesn't want to care. She just wants to get through a family obligation with little fuss.

Stella just waits for Tina, looking pleasant. She thinks she spots an ambassador's daughter over there, word is she may be a mutant. But that's all just filed away.

Well. She'd gone longer than she expected without being recognized. Tina's lips curve into a smile and she looks first at Stella and then at Norman.

"Hello, Norman."

"You look lovely, of course. How are you doing this evening?" he asked.

"You remember Stella Cicero, my assistant, don't you?"

Norman's phone beeped and he took it out to look at it. He nodded.

"Ladies, I'm sorry but I have to take this. I'll be back ASAP." he said, heading toward the men's room.

It was rather easy to slip into the party after she given she the invitation at the door. She flashed the pretty smile that had been hidden since. Well... since perhaps Honolulu? Of course that hadn't been for a Gala. That had been for saving a city and culture and... so many other things.

The last time she was at a party was simply her own if she recalled. But there were so many things to remember. But bright smile, turn down a hall and well. Gone. Gone for 20 minutes before suddenly shimmering to the side of one of her father's old comrades and someone who felt just as uncomfortable as she. She knew. MIT types never liked parties without drinking and considering Mr. Stark...

"Good evening, Mr. Stark. Long time no see."

"Valeria." Tony turned to look at her, giving her an easy smile. These kinds of events weren't his favorite things in the world, but he'd live. "It has been a while. How've you been?"
