On a Wing and New Technology ((Open))
After getting a small feeling working with a bunch of heroes to bring down some supernatural goings on in the city, Vesper determinedly updated his gear. A few test runs and some tweaking, he now had a fully upgraded suit. Now, the bat-suited man was trying to get back on regular patrols. With his recent engagement and his father in town for business, he had been a little lax on getting out.
An updraft helped carry him higher as he looked for action. He felt the need to put feet and fists into good use. Or maybe the new gear needed a night out. Either way he was scouring the streets with his hearing to find something other than noise from televisions that sounded dangerous.

"I'm out looking for crime. You're lucky there's not sign posted about loitering." It was a slow night so far. He hoped it would pick up. "Out looking for demons?"
no subject
Liza grinned.
"Demons... ah, no. I've had enough of those for a while. Like, maybe the rest of my life?"
If only.
"I'm just out getting a little exercise."
no subject
"Jumping from rooftop to rooftop? Or something more... martial?"
no subject
Lightning fast, Liza pushed off from the column into a double midair somersault, landing into a backflip.
"I've got to keep my reflexes up, you know. And this part of the city is a good place to find someone to practice on."
She glanced down. A plastic grocery bag drifted down the otherwise deserted street.
"Usually, at least."
no subject
He scratched his chin with his thumb. "Like a lift to a more dangerous area?"
He glanced over her costume. "That outfit have any bullet-proofing?"
no subject
Liza chuckled.
"Sounds like the best part of town. This..."
She pulled at the sleeve of her costume.
"...is pretty much just spandex. It's one of my mother's old costumes. This was hers, too."
She flexed her hand and threw out her Cat's Claw line so that it hooked onto the brick column, before pulling it back.
no subject
"So, distraction, claws, and lined mobility? Hmm." He gestured for her to come over and grab on. He found not carrying someone by her armpits to be more beneficial in flying. Also less of a strain on himself. "They aim something at you send that clawed line into their groin."
no subject
Liza raised an eyebrow. She never realized that was part of her power set. She walked over to Vesper and grabbed on as directed.
no subject
"Modesty. Nice to see in someone running around in spandex." He smirked slightly as he sent a bubble of silence behind him to hide the sound of the engines starting up. He slipped an arm around her to help keep her with him.
Then he got lift off the rooftop to get them moving.
no subject
Liza watched the rooftops and streets pass beneath them.
"Although, it does get kinda old wearing Mom's hand me downs."
no subject
He was in no way durable enough for just spandex. Though he could afford to keep replacing it. "Your mother's huh? I would not fit into mine. I'm too tall and my breasts are not big enough. Fortunately, I have a supplier to gear me up."
no subject
Liza grinned. Then a thoughtful look crossed her face.
"A supplier, huh? Does he or she take commissions?"
no subject
He blinked at the question. He realized he had left himself open for that. But if he supplied another hero with equipment, his cover with his father might stay intact.
"They might. Given the right introductions."
no subject
Liza smiled, then that thoughtful look came back.
"And expensive, too."
She paused.
"I felt way, way out of my weight class when we were fighting those demons. Not the demons so much, they were easy. Heck, I've seen scarier things at a family reunion..."
Her lips quirked slightly at that little private joke.
"More like everyone else I was fighting with. Cat like reflexes and agility suddenly don't seem so awesome when you're standing next to someone who can slice a Prius in half, you know?"
no subject
He banked to the left so he wouldn't come in right over the gang's territory. They had started watching the sky for some obviously winged reason.
"I understand. I was good for carrying around one of the chopping a Prius in half people. That's why I got an upgrade."
no subject
Liza smiled.
"This is the first time I've ever thought about an upgraded costume with, you know, stuff in it. I don't really even know what all can be done with them. I'm not exactly a science type of girl."
She scanned the area as they flew in. She joked about never getting hit, but she knew the secret to that was in paying attention to people and things that might want to hit her, as much as it was those cat like reflexes.
"Mom used to work with Iron Man, but that was mostly before my time. I don't think Dad liked him much."
no subject
He brought them down on a rooftop. He let go of her and folded in his wings silently. Vesper tilted his head to try to pick out something that was wrong. Something sounded wrong, but he wasn't quite sure what.
no subject
Liza hopped down onto the roof as quietly as her namesake.
no subject
"Something's off here."
no subject
"It's really quiet."
no subject
He scanned the streets below, but it was too still. So still, he startled when a shot rang out at the end of the block.
no subject
Liza turned and prepared to run across the roof towards the shots.
"You fly, I'll follow up here."
no subject
He waited until Hellkitten was safely running toward danger before spreading his wings. He jumped off the roof and headed toward the sound of a shoot-out.

There were two gym bags sitting on the card table, but the volleys of gunfire were ripping through them.
