Continuing Education
Erin had a lot of things on her mind. The biggest one being the issue of how to get better with her gift. She wants to be the best Avenger she can be. No one on the team can really help her refine her abilities when it comes to be an aquakinetic.
The latest news actually helped. There was a school. Too bad she was recently graduated from the Rushmore academy. It would be easy to apply for her last year of high school. It is June, however, in a few weeks she will be eighteen. She is no longer a kid worrying about her grades.
She is a young adult. In September she will be going to college in the city. There has to be a way to work this out.
Erin made an appointment. Just to talk over her options. She wanted to be sure before she settled on anything. She arrives twenty minutes early. Traffic had been excellent today.
Erin adjusts her skirt as she exits her car then approaches the front door. She feels better already. She was glad she was doing this.
It will make everything easier on her.

"What can I do to help you today?"
no subject
"I was... Well. I was doing some fact finding." Erin smiles keeping the slightly unsure look off her face. "Frankly? I've never had formal training with my powers. I don't want to be put in a situation where I accidentally put the Avengers in danger due to a lack of training."

She was well-informed about Bruce. She made sure of it. Since he was dating her baby sister.
no subject
"Yes m'am. Since January. There was that thing with the Frost Giants.... Very much all hands on deck," the teenager said with a nod.

She looked the young lady over. Even though Rachel looked not even a decade older than her, the redhead had years of experience her body didn't show.
"Recently graduated from high school?"
no subject
She is curious. She can't help it. She never met anyone else who can use something similar to her power set.
"Yes. Rushmore. I'll be starting at NYU in the fall."
no subject
She glanced off toward a file cabinet like it had an answer. It was empty, so no immediate answer about a water-based turtle was forthcoming. She quickly brought her attention back.
"So, you would be looking for one of our continuing education courses?" Conveniently, they already had someone around testing that out for them.
no subject
She was being literal and figurative.
"Yeah." That was the best answer. "Oh. And if you need a math tutor I'd be happy to volunteer."
no subject
Rachel idly tapped a finger on her desk. In response, a drawer popped open at her thought and some paperwork floated over to her desk.
"I have some standard paperwork for you to fill out. We'll also add mental shielding to your coursework. You will find that will be a very important skill to have. As for tutoring, I can have Professor Drake do an assessment on that as well. Will it be volunteer or paid tutoring?"
no subject
She pulls a pen from her purse. She can tell the paper work is standard. She has gone over stuff like this for the colleges she applied to. She could tell there were a few differences of course.
"Volunteer. I don't really require the extra funds. This just seems like a good idea given I've always been excellent with math... Helping people who need to improve just seems like a good idea." She glances up.
"Why mental shielding? I've never had a problem before.... Of course I guess that's because I've never been around lots of other mutants."
no subject
She settled back in her chair as Erin filled out the paperwork.
"Well, you have some as your thoughts don't leak out everywhere, but there are quite a few telepaths and people with psionic powers around. The more defenses you have, the less likely the less scrupulous ones manipulate you."
no subject
She'll make time for her horses somehow. No way is she letting them miss out on the attention they deserve.
"That... makes sense. I wouldn't want to be put at risk for random mind control either. I hear it's a thing that happens in the costumed community."
no subject
"You'll get a full tour of the grounds then. So you are aware of our other amenities. The pool, the stables, and so on." The Danger Room chiefly as well. But the redhead was not rushing into that one.
She gave a wan smile. "It happens more often than one supposes would happen, but I like all students here prepared for whatever eventuality."
no subject
She perks up slightly when Rachel mentions the stables. "I used to ride competitively..... But the pool is more useful. Swimming is... important. Contact with water helps my control later on."
Erin quirks a slight smile. "Given how often things seem to escalate... it makes sense to me."
no subject
From either Bobby or Bobbi.
no subject
Erin smirks slightly. "Ice isn't a problem. It has water molecules. Give me enough time and I can fix it."
no subject
She stopped being contemplative and raised an eyebrow. "Good to know. You'll definitely have to work Professor Drake after the assessment, but I'll still be interested in what he has to say."
