Assault on PEGASUS

Project PEGASUS, located outside Mount Athena, New York, was one of the premier energy research facilities in the world, exploring all manner of exotic technologies and resources.  It had, at times, been used to hold energy-empowered super-criminals, and had, at times, boasted super-humans as their security directors, ranging from the Thing to the Blue Shield to Darkhawk.  Neither of those were a factor these days.

But it was still a tempting target to many a super-villain and other criminals. 

Such as today.  Several members of the Lethal Legion had arrived, assaulting the compound.

A call for help went out to the Avengers.

His jaw dropped for a second, then closed sharply. Okay, he couldn't shoot her directly... maybe he could take her out another way!

He fired his eye beams at the ground under her feet.

"Nope."

Ree extended her arm and the disruption targeted at the ground beneath her switched directions and went back towards Basilisk.

"You are going to have to do better than that."

The blast struck him dead on, knocking him down, but not out. He could metabolize some of his own energy, at least.

"Oh you like to tango. Kinky." And Ree prepared to do dance with Basilisk shifting most of her upper body into solid steel in order to fight.

Basilisk struck out with a fist towards her head as he came down from the arc of his jump.

He hit the ground hard, smashing a small crater in it. "Stand still, dammit!"

"Why would I want to do that? You think I'm going to make this easy on you?" She waved a hand and the crater he was in when he hit the ground tried to swallow him.

His eyes widened in surprise as he struggled against the rising ground.

"Hey, hey!" he shouted. "Let go!"
